The Allspark, the bringer of life to Cybertronians, once reached a planet called Earth, and the Autobots and Decepticons contend to take it back to their home planet.
However, the journey was more perilous than they thought. The humans, Earth's sentient residents, come in different flavors: some exploited them, others feared them, but some formed a bond with the Autobot younglings.
But when the Allspark was destroyed, and by extension, a young mech designated Hot Rod, both factions were at loss. The Autobots honored Hot Rod's sacrifice while the Decepticons wanted to avenge him.
But perhaps there was hope that Hot Rod might have survived the explosion in a form of Optimus' dream, a premonition that somehow, Hot Rod is alive...

Summary
The war was certainly not over yet, and this was still a reason for both sides, both Decepticons and Autobots, to not waste any opportunity to attack each other or get one step ahead of the other. On the other hand, Shockwave, in a desperate and scientific attempt to gain an advantage, developed a type of virus that he had learned from Earth species. How bad could it turn when it was only a harmless virus? After all, the virus would only help them to weaken the Autobots and would not be anything serious, right?
However, it was not common to see Optimus Prime behind himself in the heat of battle, his systems overheating only by… looking at his mortal enemy? He was having a heat cycle in the worst moment!
