“I’ll pick you up at eight, then?” Chuuya watched Akutagawa’s face evolve from confusion to realization and finally settle into a bashful flush.
“Chuuya-san, I can’t possibly-”
“Yes, you can.”
Or, Akutagawa has nothing to do on the hundredth Friday night in a row, that is until her absolute goddess of a coworker offers to get drinks with her, forcing her to conquer social interactions and her lesbian desires in one grand attempt to not embarrass herself in front of Chuuya.

There's a few neat hairs teasing Tommy's upper lip that all but disappear when he smiles an open-mouthed grin down at a freshman, who smiles back and says his name so affectionately I almost forget that those dorky glasses and freckles would've gotten him shoved against a locker by the same beloved Tommy he speaks to now without reproach.
I was gone for three months, and I came back to find the person I hate the most is wearing the skin of a sheep.
He even smiles at me when he sees me, holding the door for my next class when he sees me shift my weight to the only leg I still have to release a hand from my crutch to open it.
He doesn't know I know. I made sure I never told anyone I remember the face from that night, the scent of beer and vanilla, a ruby red Charger, his exhaust pouring red hot smoke over my body as I laid on the asphalt.
But I can tell he recognizes me in how he avoids my eye in the doorway. And maybe, somewhere deep in that black heart of his he's learnt to hide, he feels bad, just a little bit, for ruining my life.
But, I doubt it.
