Summary
After starting gymnastics as a 4 year old in 1998, Jennifer Jareau's Olympic sized dreams were solidified when she watched Carly Patterson win all-around gold in Athens in 2004. Her dreams of a long and successful gymnastics career are primed and ready to happen, especially with the London 2012 Olympic Games just around the corner. But insecurities threaten to tear her down, as do the harsh words of the naysayers. As if that wasn't enough to deal with, uncertainty swirls about where she stands with her childhood best friend, William LaMontagne Jr. Can she overcome it all and prove to the world that she is an Olympic class gymnast through and through... an undying champion.

That you didn’t break your ankle on purpose, and your coach wasn’t… what he was, and that your friend didn’t kill herself because of the sport,” He sighs, “But, I think your reaction answers that,” He presses his lips together and smiles sympathetically.
Trinity keeps her eyes on the computer, “Put your daughter in soccer.” And with that, she pushes her chair out and turns to walk away from this conversation.

Atsumu stared at himself in the large wall mirror across the room. The three of them were truly not that old and yet they were caught up in their futures. “Our futures really should be focused on the Olympics coming up in the next few years.” Iwaizumi sighed. It was true. Their futures should be focused on their athletic futures and not their romantic futures. They were all unmated and they all should’ve given up on love a long time ago when they chose their futures and left their awful pasts behind.
There was a long silence, the three of them staring off at something different. They had around fifteen minutes until they opened for the day. Mondays were actually surprisingly busy for them. The gym was quite popular, but it was obvious why. Four of Japan’s best athletes were the instructors and owners of a large gym, the largest in Tokyo and quite possibly Japan.

The gym always smelled the same before anyone warmed up. Disinfectant, old rubber, and the lingering smell of chalk you could feel in your nose. Trinity liked it best like this, when the lights were already on, but the noise hadn’t started yet. No music. No clapping. Just the sound of feet hitting the sprung floor and the ventilation pushing freezing air through the ducts.
Trinity rolled her shoulders, feeling the familiar click in the right one. Still stiff and sore from an injury years ago, but no one got out of this sport with good joints.
“Lex,” she said, without turning, “You’re late,” she teased in a sing-song voice.
“I’m here,” Alexis responded, sounding breathless, dropping her bag by the cubbies, “That counts.”
