Alcina crossed her legs at the knee, her black high heel almost touching Nyx’s thigh. She took the cigarette from the ashtray, flicking away the excess ash that had accumulated. “Would you like one?”“Yes, please.”
The older woman fished a gold case from her purse, opening it before she extended the case towards her. A cigarette was freed, a matching lighter being held by a gloved hand. The hand suspended in the air as if waiting.
Nyx slotted the filter between her lips and leaned forward in anticipation of the lighter. The lighter moved further out of reach as Alcina sucked her teeth. “Let the flame come to you. A woman does not show desperation in such activities.”
