Summary
5 years after Thomas and Martha Wayne were shot and killed, Bruce Wayne is 16. Bruce decides to go to Public Gotham High School, where he's exposed to the true injustices that Gotham's Citizens face every day. He sees real people drove to insanity, and the corruption of Gotham's Police and Politicians. As he sees this, an identity begins forming in his mind, the identity of Batman.

He was a material witness in his parents’ murder but he didn’t see any recognizable features and was unable to be of any productive assistance when his own sketch artist visited. He had no idea the man’s identity: Crime Alley’s shadows shrouded his bandana-covered face. Plus, it didn’t help that it was deemed a “simple mugging gone wrong” and that he was a boy of privilege that was gifted a rich life and a live-in butler with a safe house. So no, despite material witnesses not having a batch of good luck in Gotham, Bruce Wayne was one of the fortunate ones.
This time?
Who knew what this man was involved in: it could be mob-related. In this town, it was a sure bet. And his name supposedly started with a Z, at least from what Gordon nearly let slip. He'd have to check his databases... Bruce cleared his throat and gestured towards the boy who was still sitting and staring unblinking at the ground, the look of a kid who didn’t want to be around anyone... except his parents.

Dick Grayson is leader of the Team, a branch of the Justice League that is made up of teenage superhero’s and former sidekicks. He is a born leader, perhaps to his detriment, and he struggles to separate his emotions from his training. He was Batman’s son, and he would do anything for the mission, or so he thinks.
When Starfire, an escaped slave, crash lands on Earth, she presents him with an alternative. He isn't his father, and he doesn't have to be like Bruce.
But when a new threat (or an old one) endangers everything, he must come to a decision about himself and his priorities.

“Wake up!! Alfred made pancakes!” An excited voice yelled into Bruce’s ear. He didn’t startle awake, already far too used to going through this. “Let me guess, mama sent you?” Bruce mumbled, pulling his head away from his pillow to look at Jason. The eight-year old gave a firm nod with his hands on his hips and a large grin on his lips. The boy’s face quickly switched to shock as Bruce wrapped his arms around him and pulled him down to lay down. “No! Dick will eat my pancakes!” Jason complained, trying to squirm out of Bruce’s hold as the other man pretended to fall back asleep.
“I’m just so tired, Jay. Keep me company a little longer.” Bruce says dramatically, his head falling back against the pillow as he pretends to sleep once more. Jason laughs, pushing at Bruce’s arms. “No, let me go dad! Hurry or there will be no more pancakes left!” He complains
