Summary
Lex has run his mouth about Superman's hidden evil motives one too many times, and he's now been put on a probation period with the following terms: improve his public image - which is now starting to tank LuthorCorp's as well - in the next 12 months, or he'll be fired as LuthorCorp's CEO. After much rage and a couple tantrums, he eventually devises a plan. He will recruit his executive assistant, Clark Kent, as his fake partner in a PR relationship, to distract the media from his Superman-related ramblings. It's completely foolproof, and he's certain it will be a success (as his plans usually are).
One lie (his secret superhero alter ego, Superman) is fine for Clark to keep up with. Two lies (being Lex Luthor's fake partner) gets tricky. Three lies (hiding the fact that he is Superman from Lex, his fake partner)? Clark is completely over his head.

Ultraman is forced to exist in a world that he could never claim as his own. As the flawed clone of Superman, he would be forever viewed as a failure and burden by his ‘father’ Lex Luthor. Until his last breath, he would be nothing more than a weapon to further Lex Luthor's dark agenda.
"The clone known as Eight continued to develop and grow at an accelerated pace. Dr. Donovan estimated he would grow an equivalent of a year per week until his 30th week. After that point he would begin to age at a normal pace.
As Eight grew, it became clear that he would never possess the full mental capacity of either of his ‘fathers’. Small tasks eluded him and he was quick to anger. However, in his 20th week of life, it was discovered he possessed a remarkable memory and could be taught a combination of commands with ease.
By week 30, Eight was a splitting image of Superman. His powerful physique was impressive as he loomed over everyone else in the room.
