Timothy Drake was a bright boy who seemed to light up when the smallest bit of attention was shined on him.
At the galas Tim had met many people.

After being kidnapped, raped, abused and murdering his capture he gets found by Jason who he learns to love despite Peter being a schizophrenic and recently emerged from the Lazarus pit. They both have to work out their relationship around Peter getting hunted, kidnapped and chased all over Gotham and then Peter has to help Jason tell his family he's alive again.

The Kent Farm always has a distinct other worldly quality to it. Sunshine melts into his skin as he gets out of the Porsche, fresh air that carries with it the sweet scent of apples, dirt and hay. All of it welcomes Lex into a sort of liminal space, promises him something he had never quite had outside of small tastes of it on a ranch in Montana.
It was part of what kept bringing him back. The rest of the world, his problems, seemed to fall away when he walked this gravel drive to the barn. Sought Clark out inside this sacred place. The farm was slowly becoming his own refuge. Somewhere he could remove the shackles of solitude, trade them in for company and a warm smile.

Clark, however, has a secondary motive in taking on the Gotham assignment: getting an audience with the Batman. And Bruce, only just now hearing the reports of Superman after months of search and rescue, begins to take an interest in his existence and wonders if he will be ally or enemy, friend or foe.

Clark and Lex have the same problem, they're desperate for something just out of reach. For Lex is something money can't buy. For Clark it's something family and friends can't provide. But when they're together, that pain eases.
This is a Clex fanfic based on Smallville, in light of the first three seasons. I wasn't able to watch past Season 3 because I was heartbroken that Clark didn't tell Lex the truth and let him be taken away by the Asylum, leaving him to think he's crazy. At that point I started this fan fiction to explore their friendship and dynamic and all the possibilities that I didn't think the show would ever explore, while still staying true to their personalities.

"The clone known as Eight continued to develop and grow at an accelerated pace. Dr. Donovan estimated he would grow an equivalent of a year per week until his 30th week. After that point he would begin to age at a normal pace.
As Eight grew, it became clear that he would never possess the full mental capacity of either of his ‘fathers’. Small tasks eluded him and he was quick to anger. However, in his 20th week of life, it was discovered he possessed a remarkable memory and could be taught a combination of commands with ease.

Clark meets the new kid, Bruce Wayne, and his first impression isn't great. He thinks that Bruce is spoiled and rude and out of place. Maybe that's why he blows up at him. But he still saves him when he's in trouble, that's just the kind of person that Clark is.
After a while they develop a tentative kind of friendship over the summer. Bruce isn't like anyone else that Clark knows, and he feels connected to him in all of his out of place-ness.
His own feelings for the other take him by surprise, he only hopes that he can stomp them down before he ruins their friendship over them.
