Lavender’s blue and so is Optimus’ helm and other frame parts Megatron is very fond of. Not that he likes Optimus’ other colours (or frame parts) any less, because he likes all of them.
Naturally, when Optimus is looking for reassurance, Megatron uses them to express his appreciation.
Megatron is fully aware that someone has meddled with his processor. He knows a potentially not-insignificant portion of his memory files is missing (not that he can figure out how many, because his memory banks have also been compromised).
What he does not know is why the Prime keeps whispering random colours when they fight.
Neither can he explain why his frame reacts the way it does when Prime does, and he is increasingly uncertain that he wants to know.

Even if the Herald were a barely modded dynamic-class freighter, truthfully it was modded just enough to work and little else. The Herald was meant to be as nondescript as possible—old, sure but not so old that she'd be outdated, unable to detect oddities in the patterning.
The star patterns weren’t wholly different from the many others Anakin had seen, but it was enough to have him staring for a second. Frowning as he tried to make sense of it, he wondered why the Herald wasn’t picking up on it like she should have.
