She reaches down and tangles her fingers into his hair and firmly, but not painfully, tugs. Grace huffs something out, shallow in his throat, a bit like a whine, and instinctively shivers.
The pressure toes the thin line between a grounding weight and a sharp point of pain and discomfort. It is, he realizes, the first time Stratt has touched him in a while… and so firm, is the thing; it is not a passing nudge or pull in any direction, but heavy and undeniable.
Without the energy for arrogance, or to make some corny half-baked joke, he doesn’t fight her. He lets his forehead sink until it rests against the dark fabric of her trousers, just above her knee. The world stops spinning quite so fast when he has something solid to lean against.

Grace buries his head deeper into the crook of his elbow, desperate to get a few more minutes of sleep, the movement elicits the noise of giggling from the room around him. His brain doesn’t register anything strange about the sound, until he remembers that he’s supposed to be in the middle of space. Space, where Grace should be completely alone, and Rocky should be well on his way back to Erid.
He jolts upright, suddenly far more awake. The quiet giggling erupts into full blown laughter, and Grace suddenly realises that he’s in his classroom, and the students laughing at him are the same ones he last taught fifteen years ago.

They were so close to getting to Erid, just for Grace to what, to suffer a depressive episode and medication withdrawal so bad he may die from that anyways? Space travel sure had its downs. He was waiting to find out some of its ups.
Hah! And he had thought that the malnutrition was going to be an issue. If only he was so lucky as to just starve to death, no, he’d hate himself while he’d do it. Yay me, he thought wryly.
OR, Grace realizes his levels of antidepressant are depleting, and his ability to create the very necessary medication seems a bit underdeveloped alone in the wild expanse of space. Well, not alone. Accompanied by an alien, who was also his best friend in the whole universe.
