Summary
In one story, Bob Sheldon attacked Ponyboy Curtis and Johnny Cade at 2:23 AM on the morning of August 26, 1965. This set off a chain of events leading to the deaths of three teen boys: Bob Sheldon, Johnny Cade, and Dallas Winston. In this story, Ponyboy Curtis, preoccupied with a murder charge, never found the time to loathe his older brother, Darry Curtis Jr., for hitting him fifteen minutes prior to the attack.

Ponyboy had closed his eyes, his hair splayed out all along the dirty denim of Johnny’s jean jacket.
It was still mostly blonde, though his auburn roots had started to poke through. Johnny’s free hand came up to comb through Pony’s hair, brushing the strands that had fallen over his forehead away.
