Angelo tilts his head to the right slightly, knitting thick eyebrows together as his eyes dart fleetingly to the rearview mirror and his lips part. Himaya crosses her arms and waits. Because, cruel as it is, she knows that Angelo will do anything for her and vice-versa; they both knew that damn well since the first time they cleaned eachother’s vomit up at the same time after the boy threw up from overdrinking, and the girl from greening out.
They obviously did favours and whatnot before that, of course, but that night sealed the vulnerability they each thought they’d never show. After Angelo had tucked Himaya into her bed with a water bottle on her nightstand, she’d sobbed until she passed out. The following morning, Angelo’s eyes were swollen, too.
