Sometimes he sees a glimpse of Eärendil in him, so he supposes that must be from Turgon, but really Elrond looks like Elwing, and even more than that he looks like Dior. He supposes Elrond has no way of knowing that. He’s probably been told countless times that spitting image of each Finwean prince, but there has been no one to tell him that he looks more like a brief-lived Sindarin king than any Noldo. Sometimes it is uncanny, and Celeborn’s heart leaps, thinking for a moment that Dior is alive.
And then he sees Elrond’s Noldorin braids, and hears his lilting voice speaking Quenya, and sees his fingers and wrists bejeweled with rings and bracelets, and the illusion is gone.
