Some use he's ever been, because, when he thinks about it, what does it matter? Three, four, five jobs, and the money's flushed out anyway, snuffed out and away, out of grasp with only dregs left for himself, for him to be the one to actually sensibly provide for the family.
Dregs.
And they feel like they're being squeezed and stressed. Kenny feels the strain himself, a crushing exertion that wrings him dry.
He can't think, can barely see through the overstimulation, can't comprehend the concept of direction as his feet naturally pull him back to his street, trudging home oh, so bright and early.
Barging the door open, much like his locker one, he's quick to check off the starts of the McCormick house bingo card: Mother dearest passed out on the couch, empty bottle in hand, half dragged cigarette in the other; the distant sound of his father bashing fuck knows what about in the kitchen; Kevin's lack of presence.(AKA. This is basically set when and after Lucifer and Chloe have their date night where she was supposed to sedate Lucifer. This time she does, but things go south quickly.
When Dan, Amenadiel and Ella go searching for the missing Devil, they find a mysterious vial, a broken wine glass, and bloody foam at the penthouse and a Chloe too distraught to even speak. Amenadiel knows he has to tell the other two what is happening to find his brother, and finds himself begging for help from their other siblings. After finding out no one can even detect Lucifer's presence on any plane of existence, panic ensues, and Michael is forced to step in despite his disdain for his twin.
Once they do find him, what will they do when he's not the same as he was before? -

THIS IS A REWORKED VERSION OF "TEMPEST" - after some comments, I wanted to keep the soul of the story, but make it more scientifically plausible. While there are still probably some inaccuracies, I still hope this isn't as messy as before.
