When Ilyusha first suggested she should meet Shane, Sveta agreed without a second thought. When he told her his plan was to introduce them to each other during a weekend getaway, she was a little more concerned. Not that she didn’t know of Shane Hollander — his statistics were ingrained in her brain whether she liked it or not — but meeting the renowned hockey player Ilyusha had been doing the deed for the better part of the decade and then spending at least two days together sounded less than ideal. Not to mention that for all her love for Ilya Rozanov, Sveta had little interest in playing the third wheel.
“We’ll invite Rose Landry too, if you’re worried about being left alone with Hollander so much. He meets my best friend, I meet his. No awkwardness.” Ilyusha suggested after she voiced her doubts to him one late night, as they passed the time on a call. He sounded so earnest and hopeful, and Sveta couldn’t bring herself to say ‘no’.
