Summary
A Rock, a Hard Place, and an Even Harder Place is a TMNT Iteration where the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are human instead in the early 2000s in Brooklyn, New York. Their best friends, Casey Jones, April O’Neil, Irma Langinstein (nobody really likes Irma but she follows April EVERYWHERE,) and Karai (who’s too cool to have a last name,) are always around and hanging out. When they find some shady, pristine building that suddenly appeared in the middle of Brooklyn, they for some reason felt compelled to check it out. They discover the building is called the TCRI and is creating mutants to use for their evil doings and housing the Kraang and run they to the cops, who laugh them off as nothing but teenagers on a high. They take matters into their own hands for dealing with the Kraang and the other obstacles that get thrown at them, determined to protect their city whether the cops believed them or not. They’re constantly confronted by an ally of the TCRI, Shredder, who wants nothing more to kill these meddling punks. They weave through personal relationships, side quests, and the occasional government kidnapping. 8 teenagers with nothing but each other and a dream, all told to you by the very ‘reliable’ narrator Raphael!

As much as Donnie would like to be a robot and simply keep working and advancing, they were cursed with a human body. A human body with emotional and physical needs. Suddenly, their mode dropped, along with their productivity, and Donnie came to the horrifying conclusion that they were lonely. They missed Mikey’s home cooked meals, now sometimes going far too long without eating. They missed Raph’s enthusiasm and spending time with him. They were even loath to admit they missed Leo’s dumb jokes. And staying up late with Leo when neither could sleep. And ranting to Leo about their day. And listening to Leo’s absurd Jupiter Jim theories. And Leo nagging them about wearing their back brace.
God, Donnie missed their twin.
(Or: Donnie suddenly starts struggling emotionally and physically while in college, but it's a good thing Tim likes to insert himself in other people's business! If only he could help with the random seizures and memory gaps Donnie has been having. A story about college, family, surgery recovery, gay idiots, and Donnie being bad at self care.)

He had a dream that showed him the future? Well, maybe not, because in his dream, he had portal-chopped Raph’s projection’s arm off, and he didn’t do that this time. Though, that may have only been because he was distracted this time.
Leo freezes as he remembers the events that came after that in his dream.
Surely that’s not going to happen, right? I mean, a whole alien invasion? A boy from the future? Him dying?
Dreams sure are weird.
The brothers were lounging in the living room when April ran in, panting. She was dragging someone behind her, seemingly holding a grappling hook of some sort.
The others spring up and begin asking questions, and Leo pales.
He gets up and peeks over April's shoulder and— yep. That’s Casey. Eugh boy.

The Techno drone wasn’t meant to be ever separated from its pilot. Yet Donnie forcibly got ripped out of it. But that never meant that the Techno Drone also got ripped out of Donnie. Or that the softshell’s parts all come back with him. What will a turtle do if he finds out that he’s partially Krang and that part is actually the majority of him?
Or the Techno Drone didn’t just Krangified, but straight up made Donnie 70% Krang. Of course with a species change comes some freaky new instinct, issues and body horror worthy transformations. Drowning in intense self hatred and fear of losing his brothers ( especially his twin) of course he tries to face all these challenges all alone.
Basically another Krang-Donnie AU, but trust me this is going to be a rollercoaster of very gory, very sweet and have a lot of made up Krang lore you never knew you needed.

Everything about him looked like Leo, except it all looked more comfortable on the boy, like he wasn’t trying to conform to the ways of a species that didn’t belong to him. He looked good. He looked like he could be happy.
It must be his fault then that the human still looked unsatisfied. After all, he was looking back and seeing a weird green guy instead of himself. That had to be it. He didn’t want to consider the static clinging to his lungs or the way his stomach twisted when he pressed his hair down.
