Summary
The Arbiter's initial studies of human culture didn't happen after the Great Schism; he's figured out things about their species through long observation and plenty of patience. He'll acknowledge their new alliance gives him plenty of resources to fall back on when he doesn't understand something. Frankly, he doesn't get a LOT of the customs these people have.
But it's good to increase his knowledge: as a curious Sangheili, he has many burning questions, ones he's harbored for years that ought to be answered at long last. There's only one problem he's got no hope of fixing.
See, he REALLY wishes he could figure out if this 'bond' with his enemy-turned-ally is purely platonic, or he's instigated a serious courtship between them. Chief is being rude in not clearing up the matter but then again, the Arbiter is kind of shitty at clarifying what his questions are.
Misunderstanding is in plenty but were it so easy to understand one another's intentions, then they'd never learn how to become each other's equal.

They were in the lab and, up until that point, they had been working on their respective projects, Grace bent over one of the microscopes as he ran various tests on some taumeba sample. He did a full spin around in his chair and then skidded to a stop before addressing Rocky.

"Do you need something more specific? Like Adrian is your spouse? Did you two have a ceremony? That would make them either your spouse, husband, or wife depending on what term they'd be more comfortable with. And we call the ceremony itself a marriage."
"No. Why would Grace need a ceremony to prove his devotion to his mate? That's dumb, dumb, dumb."
Grace chuckled.

The Wanderer has been specifically written as a companion to Season one of the TV show, not a replacement. (Canon errors excepted.) My stories interweave with canon events, before branching off more from 2259 onward.

Moros is... lost. He's pulled into a "clan" and then expected to understand everything immediately, like really? And then the others get explanations while he doesn't! Whatever... It's fine, he can learn as he goes. Like, why there's this whole ceremony thing when he's gone through six of Selene's cycles, or why his mentors keep disappearing on patrols and such, leaving him with someone new so often that they just stopped giving him a set cat and simply... pass him along. Rotating through the cats.
He can learn how to hunt whilst being blind and ensure no one notices, he can learn how their belief system works so he can properly pay respects, he can learn how to act so his clouded eyes never arouse suspicion, he can learn how to fight even if cats are just blurs of color. He can.
And then he can't. Because someone noticed his difficulty seeing, someone saw how clouded his eyes are, someone snitched. So now he's in the medicine den. Not a warrior apprentice. A medicine cat apprentice.
