"Well?" Patrick asks, walking over and resting his arm on Mike's shoulder. "Got any words for the little fairies?" The other two are already snickering.
"I…." Mike hesitates for a moment, his eyes briefly switching between Will and Patrick. His eyes lock onto him for a moment, and he swallows, before he focuses back on Will with a newfound confidence.
"Jesus, Byers… you couldn't make it less obvious?" He teases lightly, his eyes quickly switching from Will to Andy— who is already cackling as he smacks Mike's back playfully. "Right?!"
Lucas frowns as he stares at Mike, mouthing "what the hell, man?" Before his eyes shift to Will. He moves to stand closer to him, a little more protectively.
"Well, it's not really anyone's surprise….the freaks and the queers— they tend to go hand in hand, right?" Mike adds slyly, his gaze never quite meeting Will. Instead, his eyes stay glued to the portrait, taking in every detail of it.

Author's notes: I’m autistic and see a lot of myself in Shane Hollander. So I thought, in this situation, what if he did exactly what I did the first time I hooked up with someone and didn’t know what the protocol was after it was over, what the next steps were, how to be like everyone else in a moment that felt amazing and confusing at the same time. What if he just asked?
Canon divergent from the first hookup seen in HR s01ep01. Some things are from the show - aged up Marleau and Hunter, mainly - but the timeline is a mix of both.
