Not the answer she was hoping for. But considering the lateness of the hour and the sleep-blurred voice suggesting she might have pulled him right out of REM sleep that was… surprisingly coherent as far as answers went.
“You remember her, right?” she presses, because what she just got wasn’t exactly an answer. “She was real. A werewolf, but she always gave pure unicorn vibes and then I went and asked her for help because I couldn’t think of anyone else to ask and everything went wrong from there…”
“And now we’re fixing it,” interrupts the voice on the other side of the line.
“But are we? Is anything we’re doing actually going to help her at all?”
A question she really tried not to ask herself too often – let alone out loud – and now here it was, out in the open.
“I’m not really trying to help her. Just doing what I’m told. Your mastermind energy makes you really hard to refuse,” Pugsley tells her and that’s… another thing that might have been better off staying unspoken. “If that’s what she meant by you being yourself I think she might be… proud of you?”

It now boasts a dull, constant throbbing that ripples persistently up his spine, catching on every pointed vertebrae. Whilst reduced to lying on the floor like some– some plebian, its tiles had seeped ice water through his shirt. It had been something to distract himself with, during the… Beating.
Felix is no stranger to a little pain. The squelching wallop of wood against his temple echoes in his head like a gunshot, and the experience of being hit again and again and again seems to repeat itself afterwards in sudden, vicious spikes. Felix is loath to touch his forehead now, feeling the remnants of that sticky crimson substance congeal in his hair, sticking to itself and painting the line of his scalp with filth.
Red is not Felix’s colour. And yet– he thinks resentfully, staring down at his shirt– it is everywhere.

Gi-hun smiles, warm and open, like he doesn’t notice the suspicion and frustration that undoubtedly stain In-ho’s voice. “That’s exactly why I want to help you, because no one was there for me.”
So Gi-hun does still believe in other people. That’s disappointing. Perhaps In-ho does have a purpose in this relationship, after all. Maybe his role is to show Gi-hun that other people are not worth looking out for. He can’t deny that he finds the idea attractive.
