Summary
Feeling the weight of another person on the bed made something click in Mike’s brain. Fuck. Will was in his room. Sitting on his bed. Witnessing this. Mike being a disaster. This was a bad idea letting him in, seeing him with his guard down. He immediately tried to force his walls of vulnerability, which were currently being torn down by the person in front of him, back up. He was worried that he would see the growing cracks in the cement he was actively painting over with the guise of lies, and wiggle his way through into the labyrinth that was his brain. The thought terrified him. Anyone really seeing him was equivalent to having an arm cut off in his eyes.
OR
Mike has fallen into a pit of depression after the events of season 4. He's beyond scared to let anyone in, and really see him and what's happening in his brain. He believes that pushing down and ignoring his feelings will somehow "fix" him, but he's proven drastically wrong.
A re-write of season 5 where Mike gets Vecna'd because I'm still upset it didn't actually happen. Byler happens, but it's a slow burn. Sorry!
