King Joffrey takes a bereaved Lady Sansa up to the battlements to view her father’s head on a spike, and taunts her about giving her her brother’s head as a wedding gift. In a moment of foolish bravado, Sansa suggests that Robb will instead give her Joffrey’s head. The King orders his guard to strike her, after which he turns his back on her. The narrow walkway along the wall and the long fall to the bailey below presents Sansa with an opportunity she can’t resist: the chance to end all of her suffering.
