Summary
After Elevens passing Mike spent his days distracting himself from reality by focusing on schoolwork and his friends. But after graduation, when the party has all left for university, Mike finds himself alone in Hawkins and the grief and guilt come crashing down.
After a threat from his father, Mike finally goes to university in 1991. However by this point he has completely cut off his friends and isolated himself. He moves to New York to try to take control back over his life, where he stumbles across Will in a coffee shop he liked to visit. Will sees right through Mikes walls and tries to climb pass them so they can navigate their grief together. As they rekindle their friendship they slowly start to realize that there may be more nuance to their friendship.
