XD was dying.
It had been slow at first. Insignificantly small pieces of him were being ripped out and, as his being as a whole was infinite, he’d barely noticed.
But for months, years maybe, his divinity had been slowly depleting, until one day he realized that his connection to Limbo had been almost completely severed. A whole chunk of him was about to no longer exist. And it was a small fraction of an infinite, but it was one he could no longer ignore regardless.
From there, it kept getting worse. The human, Dream, the one that was stealing away his being piece by piece, was getting greedier. More impatient. More foolish. XD needed to stop his act of hubris.

"You know, you could use your chosen one to carry out your bidding” Foolish pointed out after a moment of reflection. “But nobody is gonna rally beside Tommy right now. They’ve all been wounded far too deeply by the events you refused to stop. There is no understanding between them. No empathy. No care. They’re divided, scattered, lost. George knew that he was good enough to win. It wasn’t hard to be confident about it—not when he was looking at his statistics, not when he clicked into his skis, and definitely not when he was racing down the hill so fast, he almost felt like he was flying.
But despite his confidence, despite everyone agreeing that he was overdue for a win, George had been damned to almost-win and never actually-win.
So he thought himself pretty reasonable for despising Dream. Who wouldn’t hate the guy who so often cut his own time down just a few hundreds of a second, who so often snatched the top spot for himself?

Neither would accepting Dream’s invitation to an after-race-party. Letting himself give into his own impulsivity (definitely not desire!) and kiss Dream before dragging him into the nearby closet—yeah, that for sure wouldn’t change things either.

There was a human in Tubbo’s cell. Every fiber of his being buzzed with fear and terror, urged him to get away, but after seeing the human cowering before him, he wasn’t sure what to think.
He tapped his feet quickly against the floor, thinking. It was still in his cell, doing who knew what.
“Screw it! I’m going in!” He huffed, pushing up the door and flying inside. His cell was fairly dark, as he’d left it. Nothing was out of place, except for the lanky, curled up shape hidden in one corner.
Tubbo landed soundlessly on his fuzzy carpet, and padded over to the human. He hesitated a little before reaching out to poke it, and quickly brought all of his hands back close to him just in case.
The human reached out a shaky hand and pushed his foot away, before bringing it back again.
“Hm. Well you’re definitely not attacking me."

Quackity straightens up from where he’s been kneeling over Dream.
He’s gone limp after the last blow to the head. But there’s no cause for concern yet.
Quackity already checked for breathing, as per Sam’s instructions, and it’s there—shallow and uneven but present as always.
He’s unsure if Dream could even die at this point. He looks at what remains—a shell Quackity had hollowed out himself.
Usually, Quackity would’ve tried to wake him. But tonight, he doesn’t bother. His arms ache, and his hands are sore from gripping the handle of the, now bloodied, axe. The entire session he’d been waiting for that adrenaline and elation to hit him, but nothing came. Now, all he feels is a dull pain behind his eyes.
He sets the axe down carefully and rolls his shoulders, then bends down to stretch his knees. The obsidian is unforgiving and Quackity grimaces as he feels his calves tighten.
It’s already been such a long goddamn week.
