He coughed, his breathing shallow, pain radiating across his stomach. Max came closer, moving slowly, too slowly. Was he actually walking like that, or had he hit his head too hard? Everything had changed so quickly.

And so, as Aelfric's chosen cleric and fellow practitioner of holy magic, it obviously stood to reason that (despite what anyone else might have to say about it) he should be able to cast such a spell as well.
