Tintin attempts to get Sakharine to leave the morning after, to no avail, least of all worried at the fact that he has another man in his apartment. His landlady, Mrs Finch, soon interrupts, confessing knowledge the reporter doesn't expect in the slightest, in her own form of gentle support in a time where such relations are unacceptable, let alone illegal. It sheds new light on the warm, professional relationship he thought he knew he had with her in a world that struggles to understand or care about someone like him, in all aspects of his life to boot, as well as what he thought about the devious, manipulative man he's now already fallen very hard for.
It gets explicit in later chapters, but it is still very sweet like the rest of the fic.
