Putting the now dirty cloth on the ground, Coolkid looked up to see someone new in the doorway.
Specifically, his father.
The man looked panicked, glasses askew and panting like he’d run all the way here, which he probably did if what Coolkid had heard was running.
Coolkid sniffled as newfound tears formed, reaching towards him as he rushed forward, crouching in front of Coolkid with worried mumbling, feeling his forehead and his cheeks with the back of his hands.
“Dad,” Coolkid said, “I think ‘m sick.”

Everything seems as if it's falling apart at the seams constantly, one stray table corner away from becoming unraveled. When he is offered a job by an eldritch entity as a last-ditch effort to appease the bundle of unfinished code that was The Specter, it decides to at least get something out of it.
When all is said and done, this wasn't as bad as it could be. The Specter has their limitations on cruelty, and he knows that very well... but that doesn't stop it from causing his own suffering as well. After all, self-sabatoge is what it's best at.
