Some time after the events of Part 2: With an Ice-Cold Eye, the Isle has been remade under the guidance of Queen Grimhilde and Prime Minister Jafar. Evie is her mother's Heir, and Jane is there... though the Isle may not know it.
Back in Auradon, Ben is grappling the disappearance of his Lady of the Court in the middle of Cotillion, while his heir Princess Audrey takes up many of Evie's duties. Mal has nurtured her relationship with Uma, and the two have founded a Tourney team called the Islanders to keep the Isle's plight in the public consciousness, even while the Isle is dark.
In interludes, we flash back to the daily life of Evie and Jane on the Isle, coming to terms with their cohabitation, and relationships with power, the men they love, and their emotions for one another.

Why are Kai and Nya hissing at each other like feral cats? Why is Jay slow-blinking at him and why is Zane growling at him? And wait— is Lloyd purring??
In the end, they’re not really cats.
They are legendary ninjas who have saved Ninjago and the merged realms more times than anyone can count. They can totally handle this.
