Chapter Text
“Talk to me Jess” Miguel’s voice came through the comm device while she stared at the roof where she was certain her former student had opened a portal a few minutes moments ago. She could feel her glasses pressing against her nose as her face shifted to concerned expression, now shifting her eyes between her comm device and the roof.
Dialing a few holo-buttons on her device, she finally broke the silence, “I think I’ve got him. I’ll go after him with backup, but he escaped once” she finished, while issuing an order for HQ to send a few spider-people to the universe Gwen was travelling to.
“I’ll stay behind and call for backup too. Should he escape again, this canon event shall happen, no matter what” answered Miguel, cutting the communication from his side. “Yes… no matter what” whispered Jess to herself, before opening a portal and staring at it while fidgeting with her motorcycle’s clutch.
“We’re on our way Jess” a voice from the comm device brought her back. “Y-Yeah, on my way” answered Jess, while accelerating as much as she could, drowning whatever doubt she may have had, and finally crossing the portal.
“You’re durable, kid” spoke his other self from above, putting more pressure on the boot over his chest. “W-We’re the s-same age” Miles was able to barely retort between grasps of air, while trying desperately to move the boot from above him, only to hear a snarky “Only physically” from the man squeezing the air out if him.
While he struggled with the boot, Miles mind flashed back to the shield from Pavtir’s dimension, to the robot he once knocked out by draining him to the way his uncle’s boots worked and to Miguel’s suit. “I’ll get your blood and become even stronger, no one will ever step on the Morales again and I will take my mother away from this hellhole” the Prowler broke the silence while adjusting his mechanical claw, but to his surprise, he was not able to move at all.
Miguel had stopped trying to move the boot from above him, and had clung to it as hard as he could while squeezing his eyes shut as if his life depended on it -which was mostly true, he thought- and started draining the suit’s energy, through the boot, in waves of revitalizing shocks. He could feel his chest wound slightly begin to heal, as well as the force coming back to his muscles, able to lift the boot a little bit while still squeezing it dry, allowing air to enter his body again akin to water for a wandering traveller in the middle of the desert.
The Prowler retracted the claw and was about to deploy something else from his gauntlet, when out of nowhere, a black and white figure tackled him out of Miles and onto Aaron. Regaining his composure, he got back on his feet to witness Spider Noir facing this world’s Miles and his uncle, who activated once again his whip, only to have it snatched from his hand by a web that came flying from above. Hobie landed gracefully besides Noir, winking at Miles and turning to face the opponents.
“Get out of here kid, we’ve got this” Hobie muttered, eyes fixated on the Prowler before him, “Guys, but.. But how ar-” muttered Miles, before being interrupted by Noir “We’ll talk about it later champ, now go before the others do something stupid”.
‘Others? What’s going on’ thought Miles while turning in the direction Noir had come, only to find Peter B and Gwen fighting with Jess and a few other people from the spider-society on the roof across the street. Both his predicament and the heavy rain had drowned the noise of the fight, but without the tunnel vision from his fight for survival, he could make out most of what was happening on the skirmish.
“You’re not getting away” the Prowler growled, launching himself forward, just to be intercepted by Noir, who presented himself as much of a thougher opponent to him than Miles, both due to his physical capabilities and his experience, while Hobie made sure this world’s Aaron wouldn’t interfere.
“Hold on for a second… and hold her for a second! Then we can talk about this” pleaded Peter B while dodging Jess’ bike. The roofs had become a fighting ground for spider-people, a mix of acrobatics, different colors and webbing was flying all over the place, making it seem like some sort of carnival show.
Gwen desperately tried to get the spider-society of their backs, jumping and dodging while trying to web them. Hobie and Noir went after Miles, but she still wanted to check on him herself, bring him back, tell him how sorry she was and make things right. One of Jess’ companions was able to kick her right on the ribs, snapping her out of her thoughts and back into reality. Right as she was grabbing his leg, Mayday webbed his mask from her place on her father’s harness, giving Gwen the much needed edge after regaining her focus. As she positioned herself to throw him to the ground by pulling his leg up, she braced his arm and used his own weight to leverage him to the ground while sweeping his other leg from the ground.
Grinning, she webbed him and ran to help Peter, making sure to stomp as hard as she could on bot of her adversary’s web shooters, disabling them. “Can you stop hauling things at me and use your words” Peter B mentioned while dodging left and right the random stuff the other spiderman hauled at him with his webs, while trying to stop Jess from going after Miles.
“You don’t get it” retorted Jess, “If we don’t stop him here, it’ll be worst. Miguel won’t have any consideration” it was like a physical conversation, in which none -well, perhaps the other spiderman- was trying to hurt each other, while they both tried to achieve their goal.
Just as Jess was able to bypass Peter, Mayday webbed her bike’s wheel, stopping it on its tracks, and before the other spider-man was able to take on Peter, Gwen got in the way, diverting the hauled object before starting to web him to the wall, and going for his web shooters.
Peter just gave Gwen a knowing and redirected his full attention to Jess. “Look, hold Mayday a little bit and it’ll be much eas-” started Peter, but was quickly cut-off by her frustration “Enough Peter!” .
Miles gathered all his strength, making a mental note to thank the Prowler for his spare energy, and went for the jump between buildings across the street. However, he glitched.
