Chapter Text

Adrien flopped back directly on his couch, landing on Ladybug’s lap. His eyes fluttered closed happily when he heard her sweet giggle. Her fingers moved through his hair, curling through the short strands on the base of his neck. The moonlight lit up their faces with white, golden light through the window. With the soft glow upon them, Adrien cuddled even deeper into her lap.

He gave a contented sigh when Ladybug wrapped her arms around his waist. She rested her chin on his shoulder. That soft pressure and warmth against him were utterly delightful. It meant that she was with him and wouldn’t be going anywhere anytime soon.

After all, they had already defeated an akuma together and already had their patrol. Not that she needed to know that. Adrien had just barely managed to beat her back to his room, detransforming quickly before she swung inside his room.

But he didn’t think about what had almost been. Instead, he just focused on the utter contentment of being in Ladybug’s arms. They sat in blissful silence for a moment, reveling in the simple pleasure of each other.

Ladybug broke the tranquility with a gentle whisper, her warm breath tickling Adrien's ear. "You know, being here with you like this feels like a dream come true. You can’t even begin to understand just how long I’ve spent loving you."

Oh yes. Yes, he most definitely could. Considering he most certainly loved her first. After all, he fell for her oh so long ago now in that very first battle with Stoneheart. And ever since that day, he knew that he’d always love her.

But, unfortunately, Adrien still couldn’t tell her that. Not whilst they were still fighting akumas every day. It’d be too dangerous. One day, though. One day he’d be able to tell her that he was her partner too.

For now, though, he’d manage to tumble through his window after patrol just before Ladybug came in. Even if he desperately craved the idea of them sitting on their spot directly across from the Eiffel Tower, holding hands as they kissed underneath the twinkling, sparkling lights.

Then, afterward, they could hold hands all the way back to the manor, detransforming together after a long day of protecting Paris. He’d know her identity and she’d know his and it would be completely and utterly perfect.

Before Adrien could sink any deeper, he shook himself out of those tempting fantasies. Not yet!

As her fingers began to trace circles on the nape of his neck, though, Adrien smiled. "I feel the exact same way, Ladybug. I still find it hard to believe that I’m lucky enough to deserve all of this."

Her grip tightened around him and he could practically hear the frown in Ladybug’s voice as she murmured, “Don’t be silly, Adrien. You’re more than lucky enough. If anything it’s me that should be thinking about how lucky I am.”

A mischievous gleam glimmered in his eyes as he couldn’t help but snicker. “You are lady luck, after all.”

Ladybug snorted and the adorable sound caused his heart to thump loudly in his ears. He loved it when she laughed. “I guess that must be the only reason you’re with me, after all,” her voice was playful and Adrien just knew she was grinning. “I’m just that unbelievably lucky. It must be an additional superpower I have that I didn’t know about until today only.”

“Mhm,” he hummed, a smirk toying on his lips.

Her hands paused their journey in his hair before she gave an exaggeratedly long, drawn-out sigh. Adrien felt Ladybug shrug behind him as she shifted. “I suppose I had better go then. We wouldn’t any lasting health effects to happen to you as a result of my luck powers after all. Maybe Tikki will be able to help me come up with some solutions.”

Now she was just being mean. He didn’t want her to go. He’d never want that. Even if she did have some weird, luck powers neither of them had known about.

Adrien whined, bumping her hand with the back of his head in an attempt for her to resume the soothing motions. It worked! Ladybug chuckled before diving her fingers back into his hair, scratching his scalp as he practically melted into her arms. This was how every day should end.

After another few peaceful moments of silence, Adrien finally pulled himself back into awareness. He turned in her lap, grinning at her as their faces were but a mere few inches apart. He watched as Ladybug’s eyes darted to his lips and he darted his tongue out to wet them. Her eyes dilated at the movement and his stomach flopped at the sight.

Adrien traced a hand down her cheek, leaning in even closer. “You know I was just kidding before right,” he murmured.

Ladybug’s gaze was solely focused on his mouth when she whispered, “W-what about?”

He tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear, his breath hot against her ear when he whispered, “About only being with you because of your luck. It’s actually because I love you.”

When Adrien pulled back, her lips surged forward until they were pressed against his. Her arms wrapped around his back, tugging him even closer to her. He tilted his hand, flicking his tongue out to lick at Ladybug’s lips. She gave a delightful hum in response, digging her hands back into his hair.

They remained entwined in each other's arms, the world outside long forgotten as one kiss turned into two which turned into three. Whispers of affection and sweet nothings filled the air as they reveled in the warmth of their embrace.

At that moment, it was like nothing could hurt them. There were no worries. No cares. Just the sweet, soft press of Ladybug’s lips on his.

When they finally pulled back, resting their foreheads against each other’s as they panted for air, she murmured, “That meant I love you too.”

Adrien threw his head back in a loud laugh. How had he lived before he had known her? His life seemed to be so grey and dull before he met Ladybug. Now that they were dating, and he got to kiss her whenever he wanted, it was like the world was now awash in an array of beautiful colors.

When he finally recovered from his laughter, he met her gaze again to see her sparkling blue eyes. “Is that what that meant?” Adrien tilted his head, trying to feign confusion.

Ladybug simply punched his shoulder lightly. He could still see the smile twitching across her lips, though, just begging to be free. “You know it was!”

Leaning his forehead back on hers, he darted his gaze back down to her lips. “Mmm, you know I might need another sample. Just to make certain.”

She rolled her eyes at him fondly. “You’re such a dork.” Ladybug shook her head as the smile slowly stretched across her face.

“Yes, but I’m your dork!” Adrien got to point out with a grin just before she pulled him back into her chest, kissing him once more.

He sunk into her embrace, his eyes fluttering closed as he deepened the kiss. Ladybug nibbled at his lower lip and a wave of electricity rushed up his spine at the feeling.

“Was that enough proof for you?” Her blue eyes were bright with happiness even as her mouth curved into a mischievous smile.

Adrien chuckled, his voice laced with affection. "More than enough, Ladybug. But I wouldn't mind a lifetime of sampling your kisses just to make certain."

Ladybug's laughter blended with his own, the sound filling the room with pure joy. They lost themselves in each other's presence, their lips meeting again and again as if each kiss was an affirmation of their deep love for the other.
