“I don’t get what’s funny about that.” He was whispering. He was trying to be unobtrusive. It wasn’t working.
“This,” she swung her arm out widely to the sky, nearly hitting him with the back of her hand at the end of its arch. “All of this. It’s ridiculous. I can’t convince my best fucking friend to stop dying for me, and I’m whining about it to Adrien fucking Agreste. This is stupid. I’m stupid.”

There’s a divide.
She’s used to the concept of divides.
She knows all too well the concrete intangibility inherent with a true division. So thick she can wrap her hands around its chains. So cold she can see her breath in its crispness. So hot it feels like just looking at it would burn her retinas.
Which is all to say, she can see the look in his eyes, the words on his tongue, and the itch in his fingers. It’s echoed in her own. They’re so close they could touch.
Except, in this blank white room with no windows, no doors, no furniture-
There’s an invisible chasm between them. A gaping maw separating them, thinner than the fine hairs on his head. Wider than the ocean.
There’s a divide.

Sneaking out, for Gideon, wasn’t as easy as it had been when she was younger. Sneaking out to the gardens was only marginally more challenging than sneaking past her godparents, growing up. By the time the agreed upon gazebo was in sight, it was honestly longer past dark then she had planned. And, much to her growing despair, it looked as though she had either already missed her chance, or Harrowhark had decided not to see it through.
Which, really, just kind of figured.
She was a moment from giving up, dejected, and making her way back to her suites when the shadows of the gazebo shifted – and Harrow stepped into one of the few shafts of light, still almost invisible in her perpetual black sweater and skirt. Which, ok, Gideon could admit did it for her. As much as the contessa had initially rankled her, now she would be a fool not to realize she was seeing past that. Yes, she held the world at arms length, looking down on everyone – even Gideon – despite being the shortest motherfucker still able to legally buy a lottery ticket. But when those dark eyes held her in place, their full attention on her – well.
She was fucked.

Alya secoua négativement la tête.
- Elle est partie chercher de l'aide, répondit-elle d'un air inquiet.
- Mais c'est beaucoup trop dangereux ! Ne bougez pas, je vais la rattraper ! décida soudain Adrien en partant en courant à sa suite.
- Non ! Adrien !! Laisse-la, elle va se débrouiller !! REVIENS !! cria Alya, paniquée.
Mais c'était peine perdue : Adrien était déjà loin.Une histoire où il est question d'herbes folles, de destruction du patrimoine français, de tentative d'assassinat, de révélations involontaires, de bal de fin d'année, de quiproquos, et de sentiments très confus, et dans laquelle Adrien et Marinette sont tous les deux très têtus et où Marinette pleure beaucoup trop à mon goût.

Adora and Catra explore strange new worlds, meet weird new aliens and go on badass adventures a year after the show ends. Meanwhile, they are both still figuring out who they are and how to ask for what they want. Because they may be badass space diplomat/warrior/adventurers, but they are also 22.
I promise there will be a space dragon.
Starts space opera and then shifts into being a gay AF Conan homage. Basically the perfect fic if you are part of the converging sliver in the Venn Diagram of fandoms for She Ra and 80's US Power Metal.
Note: this fic is my version of teen and up, so a lot of swearing, sex and violence both happen and are discussed but not explicitly described, and characters get drunk or high. Overall violence is somewhat more than canon (there is blood, and explicit mentions of people dying).
