Chapter Text
The planet Al had suggested was well lit, easy to navigate, and bubbling with life. Ratchet and Clank had no trouble finding the famed pancake joint, and it was the first place they went. Their mystery man had waited this long for the photogears; he could wait until the heroes had properly eaten and shaken off their last adventure, too. They grabbed a comfy booth by the window and ordered the specialty juice and the pancake stack with the longest name. The waitress dropped off both mugs and gave a courteous wink before departing.
“Now this is a nice planet to adventure on,” Ratchet said, grinning. “A cool canyon to explore, a pancake joint,” he leaned in and cupped a hand over his mouth, “hot waitresses.”
Clank shook his head. “What was your word for this, again? A paradise island?”
“Nah, Clank, you were right; we’re never going to wind up on a planet of pure paradise.” He swirled the mug and smirked to himself. “But getting to hang with you all day is close enough for me.”
“Cheers to that, Ratchet.” They clinked their little mugs and took a long sip. Meanwhile, the waitress reappeared to reveal the food would be out shortly.
“Oh, and sorry to intrude,” she started, “but are you by any chance robotic?”
Both heroes choked on their drinks in unison.
“Oh gosh, was it insensitive to ask like that? I’ve never actually met a robot before. You know, here on my planet-”
“Check please,” Ratchet interjected. Clank cleared his throat and caught his eyes. “We’re leaving.”
