Summary
Bumblebee is a young yellow minibot who was recently forged out of the last materials on Cybertron. He was forged with a purpose - to save the remaining cybertronians from upcoming doom. However, there is a slight problem - he lost his memory. And he's weak and fragile. And his spark appears to be malfunctioning and his alt-mode feels unnatural.
But this will not stop him as he has a gift - the ability to sense sparks of all living beings.

The end of everything is approaching. The cosmos is contracting into the singularity and nothing can’t stop it - The Big Crunch.
Only two of them remain, Bumblebee and Windblade. As they watch the space getting smaller, warmer, and brighter, they dive into the memory lane. They lived a long life, that was filled with joyous moments, horrible events, pits of despair and glimpses of hope.
They've seen it all, but was this life fulfilling?

Summary

This is basically a reinterpretation of Shadow's intentions when it comes to why it wants to 'assimilate' Sam, with an added bit of original backstory I cooked up to add context.

Sam stared at the dark gaps between the shelves for a minute longer before turning around. His gaze was aimed directly at the door across from him. Until a photo on the table caught it, anyway, and he couldn’t help but give it one haphazard glance as it entered his vision– and then another, more alarmed look, because the guy in that picture looked awfully familiar.
Or: Sam finds out about Lyle's "project." They talk.

Sam’s hand hung in the air, suspended mid-reach. He could only stare. Lyle's eyes—one of the few features still visible beneath the heavy shadow of his cloak—were wide, glassy, almost wild. Despite being taller than Sam, he seemed to shrink into himself, small and cornered. Like a wounded animal.
Well… maybe not an animal. But wounded, absolutely. Sam's gaze dropped to the blood blooming across the fabric Lyle clutched tighter and tighter around himself.How did they even get here?
It was supposed to be a routine supply run. Nothing dramatic. They hadn’t even brought anyone else along, because it was meant to be quick.
Pick up some stuff from Eugene. Grab a few things from Lyle’s apartment. Deliver a love letter.
