Chapter Text

“How dare you? You burn my warehouse and kill my bastard son and have the nerve to take me out in broad daylight in front of my own business!” Spat Mr. Jung as he writhed in his binds holding him to his chair. “I even graced you with not retaliating over those in reverence for your pack even if it was over a dumb omega. I get being affronted from someone taking what was yours, but this. This is too far. How do you even call yourself alpha’s?” Mr. Jung scoffed haughtily as he sat in the chair in the dingy interrogation room, his legitimate son, Sohyun, tied next to him. “Untie me at once and settle this like actual alpha’s and equal rankings as head of packs, this is unbecoming people of our stature.” Mr. Jung added looking at Jiwoong and Hanbin and glossing over Hao.

There was a chilling silence as no one responded. Finally Hao took the moment to take a step forward with an exaggerated exhale. “I don’t think you understand your position here.” Hao said as he leaned over the older tied up alpha. “I am in charge of this place right now. Not them. And certainly not you. You dared to harm my mate and my beta and try to get away with it?” Hao grated out menacingly, no trace of the soft and demure omega Mr. Jung had met at the ball less than two weeks ago.

A shiver of fear ran down Old Man Jung’s spine that he was unused to. Ignoring the feeling because why would a weak omega be able to produce fear in him, he scoffed. “You? An omega? I didn’t even do anything, I can’t be in charge of what my bastard son did. If you are so upset about it, your alphas can inflict whatever damage was done to yours to my omega wife and beta son.” Mr. Jung scoffed out.

“NO! Don’t touch them please. We are sorry, please, do whatever you want to me, leave them out of this. They are not a part of this life, they live humbly in the countryside and Jaehyun is still in highschool. Our father hasn’t even talked to him since he presented as a beta.” Soyun begged, his fear and concern steeping through, as Hao took a step back from the old man to process this change. “Please, I will do anything.” He cried.

“What the hell are you talking about, they are worth nothing, you are needed to carry on the family business and keep the strong Jung legacy.” Mr. Jung said, whipping his head over angrily.

“They are worth ten times the business if you would ever have looked at us to understand, you don’t deserve them!” Sohyun emotionally expressed to his father. Turning back to the trio in front, “Please, spare them, do what you want to me and I will also tell you anything you want to know about the Jung Pack business. Please.” He addressed Hao directly as his father raged at him to keep his mouth shut.

Hao shared a glance with his alphas. They noticed the sympathetic look of understanding in his eyes, even if it wasn’t evident to the other two in the room. Taking another step back, “First if you had kept it in your pants we would not be dealing with our pack having been affected by your bad parenting. Second, I think your son here has a bigger understanding than you do.” Hao said as he walked in a slow circle around the older’s chair. Jiwoong and Hanbin happy to let their omega continue the conversation. “If you had shown remorse or asked for forgiveness, maybe we would let you live or make this painless, but instead you not only acted like the pain you caused my pack was inconsequential, you even threw your own family under the bus instead of taking the blame like a true pack alpha would.” Hao said, looking over and smiling at Hanbin. “We will dismantle your entire network, underground and legitimate, until people won’t even whisper your name for fear of retribution. Jiwoong, if you would?” Hao said, motioning to the frozen alpha in front of him, who finally understood what he had gotten himself into.

Jiwoong readily sprang forward at his omega’s command, still seething over the poor control the Jung head had over his organization that led to this situation. He gruffly grabbed the back of the chair, pulling it and Mr. Jung out to a side room where a scream immediately followed as the door closed.

Hanbin walked over and put his arm around Hao as they turned towards the son.

“What do you want to know? I will tell you everything and then you can take me in there too,” Sohyun said as he tilted his head towards the side room where they could hear his father’s screams. “Ask me anything, please just don’t touch my mom and baby brother.”

Hao let out a breath, overwhelmed at this situation. “Are you going to try to take back your father’s businesses after his death?” Hanbin asked.

“No, if I survive Jiwoong-ssi, I just want to be with my mom and brother. I never wanted anything to do with the gangs and Seoul.” Sohyun said as Hanbin saw the truth in his eyes.

"Has your brother taken part in the business?" Hao asked.

Sohyun pleaded out, "I have done whatever my father asked to keep him from being exposed to this and once he presented early, my father didn't care to waste his time with a beta, he is just a normal student."

Hanbin hummed at the honest statement. “Who knows where your mother lives?” Hanbin said after a pause.

Fearful they were going after her, “Just me, my father or anyone else in the gang never even visited, just called mom in when he needed her. I don’t even think they know my brothers name, he was too ashamed of him being a beta. Please don’t make me tell you where they are.” Sohyun replied through tears.

Hanbin took a step forward, taking a knife out of the sheath on his belt and leaning towards Sohyun, “You are officially dead. With your family. No one will hear from any of you again. The Jungs will be no more and any financials the gang or businesses have will now belong to us.”

Sohyun closed his eyes as Hanbin took the last step forward. However instead of going for his neck with the knife like he thought he felt the rope binding his hands fall away. Looking up in shock at the mates he rubbed his hands.

“You will go to your mom and brother and live a quiet life in the countryside with them, if you ever think of coming back or signaling to anyone we let you live, we will finish the job. Understand?” Hanbin said.

Sohyun sniffled in surprise and thankfulness, never imagining he would ever have the opportunity to live, let alone get away from this life, he had long since stopped dreaming of being able to escape it. Even just imagining being able to spend time playing with his brother or helping him with homework or baking with his mom and all the things he had never been allowed to do up to this point, instead of the beating and training he had grown up with all in the name of becoming the next head made him break down in tears. “Thank you, thank you, I will work hard and provide for them and you will never hear from me again.” Sohyun said as he kneeled in front of the two.

Hao smiled slightly, helping him up, “We will leave enough money to provide for them and you. Don’t worry about that, spend time with them and adjust to a quiet life and find something you enjoy since you didn't have the opportunity to as you grew up. Don’t come back to Seoul and forget this.” Hao said as he couldn’t help but see the parallels between Sohyun and the life waiting for Gyuvin if they hadn’t gotten him away from his father when he did.

Sohyun looked at them in awe. “I won’t. I am forever in your debt, anything you ever need from me is yours.”

Hao and Hanbin shared a look with each other before turning back to him. Hanbin sent a message on his phone. “We have a car with one or our men waiting out front. They will take you to the bus stop and get you a ticket to wherever your family is. After that we won’t cross paths again unless you break our conditions. Enjoy this second chance. Understand?” Hanbin said.

“Of course thank you, thank you, thank you.” Sohyun said through his tears as he backed out of the room.

As the door closed Hao looked at Hanbin, “Did we do the right thing? I can’t help but imagine how many people like Jiwoong and Gyuvin never had a choice for this life and what would have happened if they never had the opportunity to escape. And I saw that in him.”

Hanbin brought his love in for a hug. “Hao you did perfect, okay? You have always gotten the job done, but not lost your heart, and I love you for that. Sometimes mercy is more powerful than fear, I think he will take this chance. Let’s go grab Jiwoong and head home to the others. This is taken care of and I don’t think anyone will dare mess with us again after the rumor is spread that we took out the whole pack and every family member of those who crossed us. Sohyun, his mom, and brother will be allowed to live freely as everyone thinks they are gone and we will have built our reputation and protection for our pack even higher and help make our final transitions to a mostly legitimate business easier.”

Hao nodded, grateful for the confirmation from his other half. “Let’s go have a family cuddle time in the pack nest.”
