Notes:

okay so I haven't updated in a long long time and I promise I have many reasonable excuses but I will get into that at the end notes.

So just sit back and enjoy this short chapter :)

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

The last thing you wanted to do after a restless night was go to school but here you were trudging through the hallways trying not to fall asleep right there. Your dull classes hadn’t changed one bit. The same boring routine scraped together by seven-minute passing periods.

On top of all this your classes had become extra bothersome with the constant reminders of the final exams you’d have to take at the end of the week. Each class period was filled to the brim with review material from the last nine weeks. Reviews that would absolutely save your ass.

Despite the fact that it was seemingly pointless to you, you sat in your last period of the day taking notes. Your teacher was blabbing over how difficult the next semester’s lessons will be. The clock right above the whiteboard read five minutes until class ended. With a sigh, you slammed your notebook shut and crammed it in your bag. The teacher had already started on a new subject containing their personal life. Something that needn’t be known by anyone really.

The loud bell chimed through the halls, sounding more like a prison buzzer today than it ever had. Every teen stood from their seat, and a synchronized routine burned into their minds. As you threw your backpack over your shoulders you brought your phone out from your pocket.

No New Messages

Walking towards the school’s large exit doors you opened your phone to your home screen, swiping back and forth, desperate to look as busy as possible. A tall guy in the crowded hallways shoved into you, pushing your thumb onto your contacts app. The newest added contact popped onto your screen.

You slightly faltered. Neither of you had reached out yet and you hoped you hadn’t offended him by not sending out a message sooner. A small smile drew upon your lips as you recalled the last time the two of you had talked.

With a glance above your screen you squeezed past the doors and into the nipping winter breeze. The wind pushed ever so slightly against the direction you were headed. Once you were certain you were on your usual route home your attention drew back to your phone. Your thumb hovered over the message button under his contact daring type out a quick ‘Hey.’

Suddenly, you bumped into what felt like a stiff wall, dropping your phone unexpectedly. You leaned down to grab it not before a quick hand beat you to it. You stood up, still unable to meet their eyes, and apologized for not watching where you were going.

It wasn’t until the so-called “wall” let out a chuckle that you realized who it was. Your eyes shot up, an apologetic expression still frozen on your face.

“So, do you walk into anybody in your way or just the incredibly handsome ones?” This cocky little fellow said. In one hand Leo held your phone captive and the other was shoved into one of the pockets of your stolen letterman jacket. He confidently stood over you, loving every moment of his surprise visit.

Leo was using one of Donnie’s perfectly crafted cloaking devices. You remembered Donnie’s words from the other day. If Leo was a human this would be exactly how he’d look. Painfully obvious bleached hair and all.

“Let’s see what had you so busy that you could’ve ran straight into traffic.”

Shit, he still had your phone.

“Leonardo. Give it. Now.”

“Oh?” He tilted his head. “Full name? Then it must be important.”

You jumped at him before he gracefully dodged your first attempt, and then your second. Leo spun around you, his arm pressed down on your head as he pushed you far from your phone.

He cleared his throat ready to announce your secrets to the streets. Leo’s stiff posture softened as he read the screen. With a quick flexibility, he switched back to his signature sly manner.

“Are you thinking of texting mi hermano?” His eyes slid down to the notes section of Donnie’s contact. “AKA the most handsome man alive?! Isn’t that supposed to be me?”

You internally screeched before throwing yourself out of his grasp and yanking your phone away.

Leo, still smirking, threw an arm over your shoulder, “Well of course you’d think that since he gets his looks from me.”

“Shut up, Leo.”

“Hey, I think it's totally cool that you’re crushing on my lil bro.”

“Not crushing.”

“It's okay if you want to make out with him.”

“Please…”

“Give him little kisses and hold hands.”

“Leo!”

“And then after-”

You smacked your hand over his mouth, your face unknowingly red from embarrassment.

“When will you learn to shut up?” You huffed out, quickly pulling away as you felt your hand wet with saliva. “Ew, Leo!”

Leo took his arm off of you, now in a fit of laughter on the side of the sidewalk. Shaking your head in disapproval, you fought the urge to laugh alongside him.

You waved your hand around. “ What are you doing here?”

He caught your hand mid-air and linked his fingers between yours, pulling you along as he started down the sidewalk. “Let’s walk and talk.”

“Okay.” you agreed, still a bit thrown off. “But I thought we agreed you wouldn’t be so overbearing anymore.”

He shook his head. “Not overbearing, just bored.”

“Uh-huh.” You responded not convinced. “Problems with the wonder bros?”

“Nope!” He chirped way too quickly.

You yanked his hand a bit causing him to let out a sharp breath. The both of you slowed your pace to stop. The cloudy skies cast a shadow upon Leo’s face.

“Alright, Raph’s been on my ass all day about a new training routine. Donnie has been cranky lately. He’s trying to piece together a schedule or something.” He paused, his eyes wavering up at the towering buildings. “I don’t know and Mikey has just been way too competitive lately.”

You let go of his hand to give him a gentle pat on his shoulder.

“Sometimes I can’t breathe in that damn subway station.” He murmured.

“I see.” You gave him a comforting grin. “Well, I’m always here whenever you need a break.”

Leo nodded before affectionately flipping your hoodie over your head. You smacked his arm before fixing your hair.

“How about a little race?” You suggested hoping to get his mind off of things.

A wide mischievous smile instantly appeared on his face. “Oh, it’s totally on.”

Before he could run off without warning you placed both your hands upon his shoulders. Forcing him to stay in place.

He stared at you quizzantly.

“Ahem,” you removed a hand from his shoulder and raised your index finger, “ no cheating whatsoever that means no mystic powers.”

“Damn it, you know me too well.”

“I often wonder if that’s a good thing or not.”

Leo scoffed dramatically as you handed him a hair clip. He brushed his shoulder-length hair up with his fingers, clipping it together in one motion. You stretched your arms over your head preparing to launch yourself full speed down the sidewalk.

With a quick glance at your opponent, you asked, “Ready?”

“I was born ready.” Leo smiled. “One, two, three, go!”

He took off before you had completely registered his counting. His speed would typically have you in awe but in the moment it was only annoying. You yelled after Leo as you chased him. His laugh echoed through the half-empty streets.
The weight of your backpack slowed you down more than you expected. In a moment of weakness, you jogged to a stop. Leo, a few feet in front of you, turned around to look for you. Once he spotted you in the crowd he stuck his tongue out and slinked into an alleyway.

You set off once more, this bozo would not beat you this time. Once you turned the corner where he disappeared you looked up to the rooftops. A flash of green and blue ducked back down. Of course, he had transformed back; he often found that disguise quite suffocating.

With a huff, you pulled yourself up the fire escape determined to make it up there in record time. Which unfortunately you did not.

As you jumped over the last small ledge to the roof you found Leo leaning confidently against an air duct. His swords tucked in a bag next to his feet.

“I thought I was clear on the no cheating part.” You said, dropping your backpack.

He chuckled as he picked up and swung his swords around. “Oh, are my quisit skills considered cheating now?”

“It’s exquisite Lenny not quisit.”

“Meh,” He shrugged completely unbothered, “Want me to carry your stuff?”

“Yes please, good sir.” You said in a dramatic voice.

Leo sheathed his swords and grabbed your bag. “Is this what you complain about having to carry all the time? It’s surprisingly light.”

“Here we go again.” You sighed crossing your arms.

“You can’t deny all of this.” He said motioning to himself. “I’m good-looking, strong, and smart. The total package.”

You snorted. “If that’s your checklist then you’ve only filled out two out of three.”

“Yeah, that’s what I-” He smiled. “Wait! Are you flirting with moi!”

You already regretted saying anything.

“No Leo, I didn’t- I wasn’t-” You shook your head.

“Oh, you so are.” Leo teased. He quite enjoyed pushing your buttons.

“Am not.”

“Are too.”

“Argh just shut it, and let’s get going.” You began walking back towards the fire escape.

“Why don’t we use the easier way?” Leo called out after you.

“Oh right,” You had forgotten about his abilities for a moment. “Your portals.”

“Or.” He drawled. “We could make it way easier.

You raised your eyebrows. “How so?”

Notes:

As to why I haven't updated in about five months.... I've just run out of juice man. I got stuck in a slump and could not continue writing this story.

This chapter was prewritten months ago and has more that I was not able to add as I just couldn't bring myself to edit it. Also, this chapter will sadly be the last one. As I said, I just have no more motivation to keep writing for this story.

I'm disappointed too but it happens and I'm so sorry if you were really looking forward to this story. I'm not the best at updating and stuff. This was my first fanfic and I really enjoyed writing for it as well as reading all the comments.

I also wanted to thank everyone who has shown support. I love you all

I may bring this story back if I ever feel like continuing it but keep in mind that I am very busy and also I just jumped onto a different hyperfixation train (ahem Lego Monkie Kid) so I may start writing for that. (not self insert tho)

Also, I do have a reader x Leo oneshot I do want to publish in the next few weeks so keep an eye out for that. I just have to edit a ton lol

Again thanks for all the support and I encourage you to go check out And They Were Lab Partners by Buthowboutno. Another Donnie x reader fanfic that is absolutely amazing and still updating. (almost complete too)

Notes:

I honestly don't know how long this fic will take. Probably around 20 chapters but we will see
