Chapter Text
Matt woke up fucking exhausted.
Sure, he did basically nothing on patrol but, Goddamn, his back was acing (cause he’s old, take L). He got out of bed, because even though he would love to sleep forever, he can’t, for he is a broke ass bitch. He quickly got ready and was out the door, still there was no sign of Madeline. So, he quickly fed Clementine and gave her kisses and was on his way.
He quickly arrived at the café, where he was soon greeted by the one the only Martha. And as soon as he saw her, he forgot all about Madeline’s disappearance. Today her black hair was tied up in a bun, and it looked like she had been up since three, probably baking stuff or coming up with new recipes, which if that was the case, he couldn’t wait to try.
“Hello Mathew. You’re early for once,”
“ It turns out you need money to survive.“ H e said sheepishly , sighing.
Smiling, Martha replied softly. “Who would have thought that ? ” There. That was one of those tones where you know you’re in big shit . She hand ed Mathew an apron.
“Martha … did I do anything wrong?” he said tying his apron but failing stupidly.
“No, it’s just that, my lovely husband Karl decided to wake me up at two in the morning with his loud-ass snoring.” Martha said, her voice getting louder by the end.
“I DIDN’T MEAN TO!” came a voice from upstairs.
“I DON’T CARE ! YOU STILL WOKE ME UP!” She shouted back heavily.
“Hmm … okay , so I’m guessing I’ll be helping you in the kitchen?”
“Don’t think I forgot about you being late yesterday, Matt. You ’re still on cashier duty.” She said as she walked away to the kitchen, probably to take her anger out on some delicious deserts.
Matt was screaming internally. But at least there was a chance he’d get to meet Tim. Oh Tim, his love of his life… no one else could consume so much sugar and caffeine in one drink as him, other than Tim. It was like they were meant for each ther, or something. (Or maybe, hear me out, you’re just both insane psychopaths, who can take an ungodly amount of sugar and caffeine / BRO FRRR -editor)

It was around ten, when Tim decided to make his appearance. And boy, did he look fine as hell. Sure, practically nothing had changed about him other than his outfit, but he still managed to look amazing. (man, chill out please / GAYGAYGAY).
“Hello Tim!” Mathew said, he looked like he was practically glowing, and Tim hadn’t even said a word yet.
“Hey, Mathew . Can I get a rainbow Frappuccino with like, a shit ton of expresso shots and extra syrup?”
Mathew grinned. “Of course, c oming right up . ”
“So how has your day been?” Tim said striking up conversation while Matthew worked on the death concoction. (THEY’RE COOCOO AND LOCO!!)
“Oh, it was ok ay. I got stuck on cashier duty which suc ks , but it all better know that you here!”
“Well, I guess I’m happy to be of service.”
“Y e a h, well anyway how was your day ? ” Mathew said , handing Tim his drink.
“It was more than fine actually , a collogue of mine helped me with a case I’m working on, which was nice.”
“A case? What exactly do you do?”
“Oh, I work in my father’s business which is sort of like a detective line of work but not really.” Tim said. It wasn’t a lie, but it wasn’t the truth. Tim did do some work like a detective, but it wasn’t the same.
“Hmm, okay!”
Tim paused. “Wait . W hat time is it?”
“It’s 10:10, why? You in a hurry or something?”
“Shit, I’m going to be late. Sorry, got to go.”
And with that , Tim sprinted out of the coffee shop leaving a smiling Mathew there. God did he like that guy. (gay)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“So, who was that?” Martha said, appearing out of the kitchen with a knowing grin.
“No one important.” Mathew said his face starting to flush a bright red.
“Sure…” She said as she turned her back on him.

Mathew ’ s shift finally ended and now it was time to make his way to the library, where he would probably spend all of his shift annoying poor Nick instead of doing anything useful. God , he was such a good person.
As soon as Mathew arrived in the library Nick let out an audible sigh. Don’t get him wrong , he loved the gremlin, as much as anyone could, but sometimes he was just straight up annoying. So very annoying. But he loved him, so he had to deal with him. No matter how many times he wanted to strangle him. Plus, Madeline would kill him if anything happened to her baby brother.
“Hey Mathew, how are you ?” Nick tried to put up with him.
“I’m doing great . Hey, did I tell you about this attractive as hell gu y ? He became my friend. ” (Tim is not that attractive, Mathew is just blinded by love)
“No, I don’t think you did.” He said putting on a tired smile on, as he handed Mathew his name tag.
“Well, his name is Tim and we met at the café and he’s fucking gorgeous. Like, above Ryan Reynolds level of attractiveness.”
“Oh really? Above Ryan Reynolds level of attractiveness?”
Soon they settled and into a semi-peaceful rhythm, with Matt talking poor Nicks ears off about Tim. But this was ok ay , this was peaceful for Nick, and he found himself slightly being happy the gremlin was there. Well , not really since he still had a headace at the end of his shift.
“Thank you, author, for giving me a peaceful Matthew, for once, in my lifetime.” He thought.

Once Mathew’s shift was over, he went back to his apartment, still there was no sign of Madeline. It was like she vanished without a trace. Mathew was actually starting to get concerned. Sure she would sometimes leave on business meeting, but she wasn’t back in a day. Even then, she would have told him, she wouldn’t leave him. This wasn’t like her at all.
Just as he was getting lost in his thoughts, his phone buzzed. It was Christy. Thank God, maybe, just maybe she had some information on where the hell his sister is.
“ I found her, but you’re not goanna like w h ere.”
Matt gulped. He did not like the sound of that. Not at all, in fact it just made him worry even more.
“ Where? ”
She responded with a pin drop.
It was right in a traffic ring they were planning on busting. This was not good, not good at all. If this was true, then who knew what those fuckers could have done to her ? All he knew was that it was not going to be easy getting her back.
“ Fuck. ” He thought, as he quickly hurried to get his vigilante costume on. He was going to get his sister back , no matter what.
