Chapter Text
He woke up in the middle of the night, feeling a strange emptiness in the bed. Prying his eyes open, he reached out to pat the mattress where Alex was, frowning when he discovered the teen was not there.
Ben climbed out of bed, making his way downstairs in hopes of finding his friend. "Gogo? Whatcha up to?" He asked as he walked down the stairs to see Alex at the dinner table.
"Eating cereal," Alex responded blandly, though Ben could tell something was off.
"In the middle of the night?"
"It's Chocopuffs"
"Gogo, there's no milk in that bowl."
"I like them crunchy."
He moved the empty chair nearby to be placed next to Alex before sitting down. He leans in to place his head against Alex's shoulder. "Something happened?"
"I'm sorry."
"It's about that again, then?"
"Yeah."
"Gogo, it's not your fault."
"I know. I know your arm is better. I know that you're better. But I can't forget it. It haunts me, Ben.
He sighed, placing his arm around Alex in comfort. Nothing else was said, as they said it in a comfortable silence. The memories of the past brought painful memories, ones that would be etched into their minds for a long time.
