Chapter Text

Chapter 7 –

Felicity rested her head against Roy’s shoulder, he had come over to keep her company while she waited for Oliver to come over. Today was a little different. After the families meeting Oliver and Felicity decided they would start to introduce the rest of the worlds to each other. Granted she had already met and spent time with Tommy, it was now going to be a an official capacity.

In her case it was Roy.

“What time did you say he would be coming over?” Roy was starting to go into protective mode, she could tell but right now she just wanted to introduce her oldest friend to the man she had fallen in love with – a subject she and Oliver had yet to address. It was not that they didn’t want to, but with the baby and work, everything else just seemed to fall to the wayside.

She groaned, he had already asked this, “They should be soon actually…” She looked up at the clock, it was almost 6pm and she was getting hungry. Roy looked down at her, “They?” As far as he knew it was just Oliver coming for dinner.

She shrugged, “He is bringing Liam and Thea.”

Roy sat up straighter, “Really? You invited the princess?” He groaned. He’d previously made his thoughts on Thea Queen very clear – mostly the Queen name. As a kid who’d grown up with almost nothing, he told Felicity his thoughts on the family. His feelings were nothing more than a product of the media and internet really, he didn’t know Thea or Oliver.

As a knock on the door echoed through the apartment, Felicity stood, “I’m not the one who stole her purse. Thea is really sweet. Now – be nice!” She had made a point of making sure Roy was on his best behaviour around Oliver tonight and had worded him up about how Roy would probably behave.

Swinging the door open, Oliver smiled brightly down at her, pulling her into a tight hug, a kiss on her cheek where he lingered for a moment longer than usual. Since the day at Big Belly, where she had kissed him on the lips when she’d come back for his phone, they had both been reaching out more for each other.

Part of Felicity found it strange, she was having his baby which meant there had previously been a lot of touching and kissing and nakedness between them but since allowing herself to feel what she was feeling for Oliver, the touches and lingering kisses and longing looks were different.

“Hey.” He whispered into her ear, pulling away as Thea and Liam came into view, Thea carrying their dinner for the night.

“Hi Lici!” Liam jumped towards her, hugging her legs tightly. “Hey kiddo, how are you? I missed you!” She leaned down to hug him tightly, tickling his sides as he squealed and pulled away, running to hid behind Oliver’s legs.

Felicity invited them inside, chatting away to Thea as they entered the living room. Roy was standing awkwardly by the couch; his red hoodie was tight around his arms as he crossed them. “Oliver, Thea – this is my oldest friend from Starling City, Roy Harper. Roy this is Oliver and Thea.”

Oliver reached out to shake his hand, not missing the tight glare Roy was giving him. He expected this and he was fine with it. But Thea did not move, her eyes hardened at Roy. “You stole my purse.” Oliver’s eyes snapped from Thea to Roy, “You did what?” He went to take a step forward but Felicity stopped him.

“It was a misunderstanding, wasn’t it Roy.” Felicity was first to jumping, wanting to keep the peace between them all. Roy just shrugged, holding his ground. Oliver Queen did not scare him. At least that’s what he told himself as Oliver stared him down. Oliver was a large man, taller than Roy, wider than Roy. He was pretty sure his muscles had muscles under that jumper he was wearing.

“Come help me?” Felicity’s voice caught his attention and with one last hard stare, Oliver was following her to the kitchen where Thea had just come from.

The rest of dinner had moved on from the awkwardness of the meeting between Roy and Thea and Oliver, so much so that while Felicity played with Liam, she could only smile when she would see Roy and Thea sitting by each other, heads down. Felicity had seated herself on the floor with her back against the couch, resting against Oliver’s leg who sat beside her on the couch.

She spared a glance to Oliver who looked grumpy, stiff. He’d seen the looks shared between Thea and Roy as well. He was not happy.

Slowly, Felicity leaned over, placed her hand on his knee, getting his attention, “Deep breaths big brother. You know he didn’t like the idea of you and me either…” Oliver’s snapped his eyes down to her, confused as to why Roy would have been upset about him and Felicity. A giggle caught their attention, both their eyes flying back to see Thea smiling widely up at Roy, who smiled just as wide.

Oliver groaned and rolled his eyes, huffing heavily. Felicity just smirked, rubbing his knee and up his thigh, eliciting a different type of groan from Oliver. He placed his hand on her, stopping her movements instantly. It was her time to giggle, she loved that she had an effect on him.

Thea and Roy even eventually came to sit on the couch next to Felicity, who had been helped onto the couch by Oliver minutes before. Her 5-month belly was becoming an increasing problem when sitting on the floor but she would give anything for Liam.

“So what are you guys going to do when the baby is born? Two of everything sounds cool but it gets real old real fast…” Roy had been wanting to mention this to Felicity for a little while now, she had ignored all his attempts to try and get her to talk about her relationship with Oliver.

Oliver watched him for a few moments, had it crossed his mind about what would happen when the baby was born? Of course, it had, he didn’t want to miss out on anything, he didn’t want Felicity to have to do everything and quite frankly he loved her, he didn’t want to be separated from her any longer.

Thankfully Liam jumped onto Thea’s lap, demanding attention for the adult, bringing the conversation away from them for the time being.

Felicity let her mind wander while she was tucked into Oliver’s side. Thought of waking up next to him, hearing him come home to her at night, opening the front door and seeing him already inside with Liam and the baby.

She wanted everything with him and Roy bringing it out into the open was enough to send her genius IQ into a tail spin.

Felicity had invited Liam and Oliver to stay the night after the dinner, Roy had walked Thea to her car, missing Oliver’s further grumbles but Felicity smiled, this was not what she expected to happen but it was nice to see Roy smiling. She watched as he closed the front door, turning to face her, a look shared between the two of them holding more than she thought.

She had decided it was time to start taking a different step on their relationship. She knew she only had a single bed in her spare room, she knew that it was only big enough for Liam and she knew the look she was giving Oliver was enough for him to know that she wanted him to stay with her.

Wanted to wake up next to him in the morning.

After saying goodnight to Liam, who was asleep before he’d even hit the pillow, Felicity reached for Oliver’s hand, leading him to her bedroom, somewhere – he realized – he hadn’t actually been before.

Sitting on the bed, Felicity waited for him to follow, taking the empty space beside her. “You know – Roy was right …” Oliver raised his eyebrow at her, unsure of exactly what it was he was supposed to be right about. “I don’t want this baby to have two homes … “ She held his hand tightly, partly afraid he wouldn’t want the same things she did.

Oliver nodded, bringing her hand up to his lips, placing a gentle kiss on her palm. “I don’t want that either…” She smiled brightly at him. Glad to hear him say it. “That having been said, I don’t think either of our apartments a suitable for a 4-person family…” He looked around, his apartment was only 2 bedrooms, as was hers. There was no space for another child to sleep let alone room for them to play and grow.

Felicity shook her head with a bright smile, “Family.” She let it roll off her tongue, unable to stop the warm and fuzzy feeling inside hearing him say it. “So maybe we find something that is ours.” He liked that idea, he liked it very much.

Oliver leaned into her slightly, feeling almost like a teenager again, hoping for his first kiss. But there was nothing teenager about the way Felicity instantly kissed him back, crushing her lips to his, wrapping her arms around him as best she could. Oliver took her, pulling her into him gently, he let her straddle his hips, finding a way that was comfortable for her growing belly. He slipped his hands into her hand, holding her against him, fight her for dominance but submitted everything to her when she whimpered against him.

Felicity had been fighting her pregnancy hormones for months now, every time she thought of Oliver, saw Oliver or heard his voice she felt herself being overcome with the desire to track him down and jump him and to have him, under her, pulling her closer – she didn’t think she could hold back.

And he broke her.

He pulled away slightly, letting himself take in her face, take in her smile and hooded eyes.

He broke her.

“I love you Felicity…”

That’s all it took for her to be reaching for his shirt, fighting against him to take it off – she wanted to rip it, he knew he needed it in the morning. With a huffed out laugh, he pulled away from her lips once more, only for a moment to take his tshirt off, hers following a split second later.

The rest of their clothes followed, a mess of hands and lips and sheets followed after them for what felt like hours.

And it had been.

When Felicity had rolled over, it was after midnight and she knew they’d put Liam to be before 10. Rolling back towards Oliver, she found him with his eyes closed, snoozing away. She could tell he wasn’t fully asleep, his left arm resting above his head, his right wrapped around but he looked peaceful and calm. “I love you…” She hadn’t said it before, too preoccupied with wanting him.

Oliver’s eyes snapped open, smiling down at her, he gently placed a kiss on her lips and pulled her close. “We are really doing this aren’t we?” He felt her nod against his chest, “Will you be my date for the QC dinner next week?” This caused her eyes to snap open.

Leaning up against him, Felicity studied him closely. “QC dinner? With the photographers and the media and the board members?” Well they would have to go public at some time she guessed.

Oliver rubbed his knuckles against her cheek, “I don’t want to hid this anymore Felicity. I know we talked about this before and I get it but I don’t want to hide this.” He rubbed her hand, again feeling her nod against his chest, “Ok.” It was soft but he heard it.

He knew this would not be the end of this conversation over the next 7 days.

~**~~**~~**~~**~~**~~**~~**~~**~~**~~**~~**~~**~~**~~**~

And he was right, Felicity’s hormones had crazy, not only had they not spent much time away from the bedroom – or shower – in the last 7 days when they weren’t working or with Liam but it was the Saturday night of the QC dinner and Felicity was beside herself.

She had thought she had kept it together when Oliver was around but he knew she wasn’t doing well, all he had to do was look at her as she leaned over the vanity putting on her make up for the night.

Earlier in the day she had been excited, almost bouncing from side to side when talking to Thea about the plan for the night but then she would flip, suddenly quiet to very, very stressed. Oliver couldn’t help but smile at her, which made it worse, but he couldn’t help it. It wasn’t that she didn’t want to go, she was nervous that people wouldn’t like her, that she’d embarrass him but that made it even funnier to him because he could not image a time when people would not like her.

“Hey…” He whispered as he wrapped his arms around her waist as she stopped putting on her mascara. Oliver placed a kiss to her collar bone, where her shirt – or his shirt – had fallen on. But she shrugged out of his arms, moving far away from him. Oliver stopped her, reaching for her hand, “Talk to me…”

“You’re my boss…” It was a simple, matter of fact statement.

Oliver raised his eyebrow, smirking a little, “I’m every one’s boss … well except Walter…” But Felicity was not having the comedy.

“Oliver … You are my boss and I am pregnant with your baby.” Again, it was simple.

She took a small step towards him, not actually wanting to put space between them but just trying to get her fears across.

Oliver met her half way, taking her hands in his, “You are right. But I know two things … one; is that no one who matters to use is going to care – everyone who does matter to us already knows.” He leaned forward and placed a kiss to her forehead, letting her pull away when she was ready.

“And the second thing?”

Smiling down at her, Oliver sighed, “The second thing is that I love you. And you love me and you love Liam and we both love this baby. In the end, that is all that matters. I just don’t want to hide this, you, anymore. I’m tired of going to dinners and events without you to share it with.”

Felicity nodded for a second, “You are just tired of people trying to set you up with random women.” He huffed out a laugh, nodding his head. Thankfully that had almost stopped since his mother found out about Felicity and the baby – she was the main culprit at trying to set him up but it still happened.

“Come on, we gotta make sure we have time to drop Liam off at Thea’s…” He turned away from her, heading back to the bedroom to get her dress for her.

“Liam is super excited about spending the night with Thea, it’s all he has been able to talk about!” Oliver called out from the bedroom, taking a second to admire the dress still in its clear bag. As he turned to make his way back to Felicity, he heard her voice.

“Oh don’t worry, I know! It’s all he has talked about all week. They are looking forward to hyping him up on sugar all night and then sending him back to us in the morning, sleep deprived and on a downward spiral.”

Felicity turned to see Oliver standing in the doorway, dress in hand but a hard look on his face, “Now, now big brother. Calm down.” She may have neglected to tell him that Thea had invited Roy over for the dinner and movie part of the night. “Thea likes Roy ok – deal with it.”

She reached for the bag, taking it from his hands, “By why does she think it’s a good idea for her to invite when she had Liam. She doesn’t even know him. He could he dangerous. I am going to call her.” He went to move but the look Felicity pinned him with stopped him.

“Oliver Queen, Roy is not dangerous. I have known him longer than I have known you and I would trust him with my life, with our baby’s life and with Liam’s life. Put the phone away and help me put this dress on … so you know how to take it off tonight.”

She turned her back him, removing the oversized shirt she wore to reveal a simple set of black bra and underwear. It did nothing to hide the curve of her belly and he instantly wanted to skip the dinner. He growled under his breath, as he helped pull the zip along her back, “That was mean – you don’t play far.”

“Never have baby…” Felicity turned her head, leaning into him as she kissed him over her shoulder.
