Chapter Text
Most meetings would start off with some light banter as everyone arrived. Some jokes, maybe a few joking insults thrown around (Some not as joking)
These things should have been even more prevalent with this group.
A group consisting of Dazai, Ranpo, Fukuzawa, Chuuya, Mori, Kouyou, and Fitzgerald.
Yet, not until the meeting actually started did any banter be passed around, not even from Mori, someone who only came here for more information the agency’s weretiger.
As the creator of this meeting, Dazai decided to start off the meeting.
”I’m sure you all know why we are here.” Was all he said.
”Indeed, we are all aware.” Kouyou responded, deciding to be placid for now.
The meeting was formed to discuss one simple matter.
Atsushi Nakajima.
The atmosphere was tense, practically everyone knew of the recent situations that have been happening with Atsushi. And the lack of information.
”Well, then shall we skip formalities? I think most of us don’t want to be within a room for a long period of time with some of the others.” Dazai stated, some people eyed around the table, sometimes glaring at people they didn’t particularly like. “I think it’s best if we begin the information sharing. Ranpo, President, and I shall go last with our theories. Starting off with Chuuya, we’ll make our way around the table.”
Chuuya cleared his throat, usually he doesn’t get social anxiety, especially not in meetings. Today just happened to be very unusual.
”Right. Honestly, I couldn’t gather much. Most information I did gather was of what we already knew. However, I did discover something. I have reason to believe Atsushi was…” Chuuya trailed off, taking a deep breath in and continued.
“For a lack of a better term. Tortured.” Chuuya finished. “The evidence isn’t the best, I’m aware of that. But, when Atsushi was turned into a child, Dazai had taken pictures of child Atsushi’s beat up body. When analyzing, I discovered a certain pattern of ligature marks on his wrists and ankles. The wounds suggested intense violence against the weretiger, while bound with rope. Something similar to torture. As I said before however, this is very circumstantial and not really conclusive evidence.” Chuuya said before sitting down.
”Thank you, Chuuya.” Dazai said, he’d suspected as much, but he didn’t have time to actually look into said suspicion. “Miss Kouyou, please present your information.”
Kouyou explained something very similar to Chuuya, however instead of torture it was about child Atsushi’s living conditions, based on body weight and cleanliness.
When Mori’s turn came around, he claimed that the files of Atsushi’s past, including parents and other relatives were completely null and void. Which led him to believe that Atsushi’s name wasn’t actually Atsushi, nor Nakajima.
Fiitzgerald also had something interesting to add on to Mori’s claim. “The ‘Eyes of God’ has been modified to be able to take someone’s features and analyze them and find matching targets. Like finding someone’s child based on the parent’s face and vise versa. While it has around a 95% chance of success, I couldn’t find anyone who matched our dear Atsushi’s facial structure nor features. Even more strange? The picture of Atsushi’s headmaster isn’t within Yokohama’s data base. There is no file pertaining to him, no name, no age, nothing.”
This was likely the worst case scenario, they were given more questions, and no answers. Sadly, this was exactly what Dazai and Ranpo suspected.
Dazai and Ranpo summarized their theories. Once again, leaving only more confusion.
Deciding that they were getting no where with this, the meeting disbanded and everyone went on their way.
Leaving on Ranpo and Fukuzawa in the meeting room.
”You didn’t say much.” Ranpo stated. Fukuzawa stated quiet.
”You have something. An idea.” Ranpo said, looking out the door.
”I do.” Fukuzawa confirmed. “However, getting ahold of him will be quite tricky, I must be patient and wait for an opportunity to arise.”
Ranpo just nodded. He then stared out the window.
They had a long journey to try and figure out what Atsushi is. And where he comes from…
