Chapter Text
"I'm home!" Raiden shouted as he entered the house.
He had expected Kung Lao to come rushing towards him with a hug, something he normally did.
But instead, he heard some talking in the living room. Some shuffling, but no one came running to him, excited to have his Papa back.
Raiden was confused, but smiled at the site. Kung Lao was cuddled up to Bi-Han's side as they watched a movie, a bowl of Mac and Cheese on the table.
"Hi Papa," Kung Lao smiled. He seemed a bit drowsy, but not enough to fall asleep.
"Did you have fun?" Raiden asked, ruffling his hair.
"Mhm! I had- Oh!" Kung Lao paused himself as Bi-Han spoon-fed him Mac and Cheese. "I have a great time!"
"Don't talk with your mouth full," Bi-Han lightly scolded.
"Well I'm glad to hear," Raiden said, sitting beside them. "I had lots of fun. Kenshi and I finished a show we were watching too. I'll have to tell you about it when your bigger."
Guilt was gnawing at Bi-Han. He knew Raiden was going to be furious at what Bi-Han had done. And was probably never allowed to watch Kung Lao again. Which was . . . disappointing. He actually had a very fun time.
But Raiden needed to know what happened.
"There was an incident," Bi-Han began, Raiden immediately looked worried. "I had-"
"Can Bi-Bi watch me again?" Kung Lao asked, wrapping his arms around Bi-Han's neck, hugging him tightly. "Pease Papa?"
"I- Yeah, sure. What was the incident?" Raiden asked, not wanting to change the subject.
"I tell you later, promise!" Kung Lao waved Raiden off. "Have a great time!"
"I think we should talk about what happened," Raiden pressed.
"No, no, I tell you later," Kung Lao decided.
"Kung Lao-"
"Rai," Kung Lao said sternly. "Talk later. Pease?"
Raiden wanted to press, but Kung Lao hadn't called him Papa. He only used Rai if he was feeling bigger, or they were out in public. So whatever had happened must have been a bit serious.
Serious enough that coco was made, Raiden did not miss that fact.
". . . What's she doing out here?" Raiden asked, referring to his bunny.
"I missed you," Kung Lao shrugged.
"That's really sweet, bub," Raiden smiled. "But you know you're supposed to ask still."
". . . Bi-Bi!" Kung Lao whined, hiding in Bi-Han's shoulder, running to him to tell Raiden to not be so mean.
"I can't not agree with him," Bi-Han said, earning another whine out of Kung Lao.
"I think it's getting to someone's bedtime," Raiden said. Kung Lao glared at him. "Come on now, let's get ready for bed."
Raiden didn't comment on how puffy Kung Lao's eyes were. Or how his face seemed a bit tear stained.
He spoke a lot about how fun it was hanging out with Bi-Han. How they played the floor is lava, and how they had tried to go outside, and how Bi-Han joined him in playing fairytale. Apparently Bi-Han made an amazing princess. Just as Kung Lao made a terrific knight. Bunny had played the dragon.
Raiden kissed Kung Lao's temple softly, tucking him into bed.
"Can Bi-Bi come back tomorrow?" Kung Lao asked sleepily, tugging his fox and Raiden's bunny stuffies.
"I don't know about tomorrow, but some day, alright?" Raiden promised with a kiss on the forehead.
"Hmmm, some day sounds like tomorrow, Papa," Kung Lao giggled, trying to keep his eyes awake.
"Maybe, now to go sleep," Raiden whispered, quietly leaving the room.
Bi-Han was leaning against the wall, waiting for Raiden to shut the door completely before he spoke.
"I yelled at him," Bi-Han said. "That's what the incident was. I . . I screamed at him."
"Oh," Raiden frowned. "His face did seem a bit. . . off."
"I said . . . a lot of things. I . . apologized, and he forgave me. But I did snap and call him a brat. He threw his coat and went outside without shoes. And tried to break rules about playing with the ball inside and I . . . I completely snapped," Bi-Han explained. "I'm sorry."
"Is he okay?" Raiden peaked back into the room. "He looks fine, but . . . You shouldn't have yelled at him."
"I know."
"But, he's forgiven you," Raiden sighed, shutting the door. "You two should probably talk when he's bigger. Kuai Liang did warn me that you were strict at times."
"Strict is an understatement," Bi-Han shook his head.
There was an uncomfortable silence for a few moments.
"Listen, I-"
"Would you be free to babysit again?" Raiden asked. "Either me or Kung Lao again?"
"After I yelled at him?"
"Kung Lao doesn't warm up to people easily. Even after your incident, he didn't call me or slip out of his headspace. So you couldn't have been the worst," Raiden joked, making Bi-Han give a small huffed laugh.
"I'd be honored."
". . . Wanna hear about the ending to this tv show Kenshi and I have been watching?" Raiden asked.
He was so excited to share everything. Surely Kung Lao wouldn't be too upset if he dumped onto someone else instead of him first, right?
Luckily, it seemed Bi-Han wasn't opposed to the idea either.
