Chapter Text

Lance collapsed before he could fully ask him a real question, if Keith had to guess, probably from exhaustion. Although disconcerting, he was slightly relieved, now he could take better stock of Lance’s injuries without the assumed stubbornness he had begun to associate with his teammate. He gently laid him out flat, finding something soft to place under his head, and started to feel for various broken bones, lifting up the bandages and redoing ones that seemed to have been done as quickly as possible. All in all, it wasn’t as bad as he had initially thought when he first woke and saw the ragged way he looked, his biggest concern was a head injury. The loss of hearing was indicative that something had happened, and looking around Blue for the helmet that should have protected him from such a fate he found the reason, the helmet was discarded underneath a portion of panels, even from so far away he could tell it had a huge crack down one side of it.

Further inspection revealed bleeding from Lance's ears. Not good. But also not something he knew how to fix in the current circumstances. Battle wounds he could handle. The wear and tear from training too. Especially when you had alien technology to help you out. But right now they had no technology, everything was out.

After finishing his check of Lance, as well as a quick self assessment and finishing a sling contraption for his arm that it seemed Lance had already started before passing out, he stood up and began a check of the Lion. As he expected the panels were all fried, either still sputtering or completely cold and silent. He wondered how much time had passed, how long had he been out? How long had Lance been alone? He spared a look over to him, he seemed to be sleeping peacefully at the moment, but he knew better than anyone else that looks could be deceiving.

He wanted to see where they were, and to find Red, who was either very far away, or completely fried as well. He couldn’t tell which he would prefer honestly.

It was true he wanted to go out and find his lion, to be reunited with Red as soon as possible, he couldn’t leave Lance. The relief he had seen when Lance realized he was awake meant he was probably too fragile to leave alone, he didn’t want to risk him getting more injured trying to find him if he woke up alone again, besides, Lance could probably answer his questions about Red when he woke up, he doubted he had somehow ended up in Blue by natural causes. He’d take stock in the meantime, figure out a game plan for now.

When Lance woke up, it was no longer peaceful, his head was aching horribly and his vision seemed to be pulsing. Instead of finding the lack of sound peaceful, this time it was disorienting. He tried to sit up and was greeted by a worried Keith who must have made his way over from some other area of Blue, he automatically looked into his eyes before darting down to his lips focusing as much as he could with what little energy he had left.

He saw Keith hesitate, mouth a pinched frown, when he gazed up to see the hold up, he looked worried.

Back down and finally Keith mouthed very slowly ‘concussion’ and then firm hands pushed him until he was resting against the wall. Lance, surprised at the gentleness at first allowed it all to happen, then he brushed Keith away and began to sit back up. He closed his eyes at the sudden pain from the movement, furrowed his brow and began to speak.

“We don’t have time to waste. I need you to see if you can sense anything from the Red Lion. We have to figure out what caused this and get back to the others, they could be in serious danger.”

He hoped he was talking at a normal volume, his throat was so raw from presumably screaming it hurt to try and push out his voice. He looked up at Keith again and once again was greeted by a frown. His eyes looked worried though, which was a nice change from what he was used to.

Eventually Keith began to speak again. Slowly, fully articulating words, Lance finally had the wherewithal to appreciate the gesture, but it felt a bit like a game of charades.
‘You’ ‘are’ ‘hurt’
Okay state the obvious
“So are you?”
The frown deepened.
‘You’ ‘are’ ‘worse’
If Lance had to guess, and at this point in time he certainly did, he would assume a question mark followed that one.
“Possibly, but even that’s more reason to start working, we don’t have anything here that could possibly fix… this” he gestured generally at both of them, flailing slightly.
Keith took a moment, his shoulders drooped ever so slightly, and Lance knew he had won this round. He grabbed Keith's hand and used it to pull himself up, gritting his teeth as he jostled his leg. He didn’t look back at Keith as he pulled him along behind him.
“To Red we go.”

Notes:

A short chapter just to get it out there, get the ball rolling again so to speak. The next chapter actually will have a proofreader so hopefully a story will soon actually unfold, as it was pointed out to me I tend to repeat and add unnecessary tangents! But just to prove I'm back here's a moment to view.

Notes:

Hey my dudes, what's up? Have this and tell me how you feel about it. I'm always up for support as well as criticism. So have at it. Bye for now and hope to see you in the next update!
