Chapter Text
MK has been working as a delivery driver for Pigsy’s Noodles for as long as he could drive. He had always wanted to work for his adoptive father’s noodle shop. But actually working was boring. He would be all over this side of town in a single day, passing by his favorite spots to hang out with Mei, seeing new, interesting locations, but not being able to check them out was annoying, to say the least.
But he was content, he wanted more, sure, I mean who doesn’t? But he was happy with his life, and his friend Mei, and the strange half-relationship between Pigsy and Tang. He was just getting his start in the world.
But everything is flipped on its head when he heads to a construction site for a delivery.

Wukong likes to check on his staff from time to time. He’ll turn into a bird and fly to the condemned construction site where it’s hidden then fly back to Flower Fruit Mountain.
So when he sees a hoard of DBK’s robotic goons surrounding the staff as well as a certain hot-headed demon and princess, he’s immediately intrigued. If he needs to step in, he will, but for now he’ll just watch.
Wukong is startled when he sees a young noodle delivery boy climbing onto the steel beam he’s currently perched on.

Macaque is hiding in the shadows, as he has been for nearly two decades. He had located Sun Wukong’s staff, which apparently he had left behind at some point, and had been keeping an eye on it. Prepared to get his revenge whenever Wukong came to reclaim his staff.
But the scene before him played out very differently than he ever could’ve guessed. First of all, a bunch of strange constructs that reminded Macaque of the Demon Bull King had surrounded the staff, secondly Macaque spotted a suspiciously familiar bird on a metal beam high above the peak where the staff rests.
A young demon and his mother stand among the constructs, a large glove-like device is on the young demon's hand. Macaque can’t make out what he’s seeing, but his attention is pulled away when one of the constructs makes a grab for the staff, and fails. Soon after the young demon with the gauntlet does. Fire bursting from his head as he picks up the staff.
The entire building vibrates, so much as one of Macaque’s sworn brothers, the Demon Bull King, bursts out from below the peak. Macaque growls quietly. Just another person who Wukong betrayed, yet again.
No sooner than that happened did a human noodle boy fall directly on top of the young fire demon, sending the staff flying a short distance away.
Macaque watches as the Demon Bull King steps closer to the human boy, only for the fire demon to step in and attack instead. The human inches away, and Macaque pities the young boy, clearly young, and inexperienced.
Macaque turns away, not wanting to watch the death of a youn- did the noodle boy just lift Wukong’s staff?
Oh now this is interesting.
Macaque steps out of the shadows, before lunging for the young human boy. Macaque did not want Wukong to get his hands on such a powerful weapon.
The bird flies in between Macaque and the noodle boy, transforming into Wukong in the process.
There is a stunned silence around the cavern.

MK booked it away from the construction site. Using the fight as a distraction, he hopped into the delivery car and zipped away.
It didn’t take long to realize he was being chased by Red Son. The two were dashing all over the city. Clearly he hadn’t wanted to stick around for the fight between what MK assumed to be the Monkey King and some kind of shadow clone.
Oh gods.
MK still has Monkey King’s staff.
He’s gonna probably want that back at some point.
But MK absolutely does not have the time to worried about that when there’s a fucking scary ass demon chasing him.
Partway through the chase Mei butts in, grabbing MK and the two dashed off back to Pigsy’s noodles, driving into the wall.
“MK!” Pigsy yelled, “where have you been!?”
Before MK can even open his mouth to respond, the shadow monkey from before appeared, picked up MK and flew off without a word.

Wukong is pissed. First of all, he’s pretty sure the kid who picked up his staff was the monkey demon that hatched from the stone egg that went missing so long ago, second, Macaque is back from the dead, third the Demon Bull King is back in action, fourth Macaque is back from the dead, and fifth, Macaque is back from the dead and kidnapped the kid.
Sun Wukong is most certainly not going to let this slide.
He shot past the noodle shop but Macaque is already gone. Wukong punches the wall, causing it to shatter.
“WHAT THE HELL!?” The owner of the noodle shop, a pig demon, yells, storming out of the building. Wukong turns to look at the group that had gathered. There's the shop owner, a human, and the dragon kid that had saved the noodle boy from the fire demon, as well as a few others.
He could work with this.

After a few hours of explaining and giving way too much context than should be necessary about what happened the group had gathered in the home of the pig demon, Pigsy’s old friend, Sandy.
Wukong didn’t dare mention that this group reminded him of his old buddies that he had traveled with so many centuries ago. “So,” Wukong started, spinning the plain wooden staff he had been using for the past five hundred years, “any questions?” He asked.
“Oh! I do!” The human, Tang said, raising his hand excitedly, Wukong sighed.
“Any questions that are relevant?”
“Yeah,” Pigsy said, “where do we find MK?”
Wukong groaned, they’re not getting anywhere with these questions. “Good question, anyone else?”
“I put a tracker on MK!” The dragon girl, Mei said excitedly, pulling out her phone.
Wukong was genuinely disturbed by this, but, it was helpful in this situation. “Alright where is he?” He sighed.
