Chapter Text
Athena put her hand on Buck’s shoulder to try and pull herself back up, “Buck? Why are you here?” As she regained her senses, she became aware of the cold water climbing her body. Her question was immediately answered. Something was very wrong.
Buck took a deep breath to steady his emotions, “Athena, can you walk?”
Athena slowly got off the ground, clinging on to Buck and the sink for dear life. “Yeah, I think so.”
The two carefully moved out of the bathroom and back into the main room where the water was now to their knees. The couple’s suitcases that had been leaned against the wall as they unpacked was now completely submerged in the water. Time was running out.
“EDDIE!” Buck shouted to the door. “ATHENA’S IN HERE!”
Athena winced and rubbed her pointer fingers against her temples in response to the sound. She started to make a snarky remark to the firefighter, but then read the fear on his face. “Buck?”
“The door’s stuck,” He replied bluntly. Despite the freezing water temperature, Buck had beads of sweat dripping down his forehead.
“Well,” She trudged through the water and back into the bathroom she woke up in. After a few strained grunts, Buck watched her walk back out of the room holding a shower rod in her arms like a rifle. “If there’s one thing my husband taught me, it’s that there’s no room you can’t get out of with the right tools and enough time.” She stood her ground in front of the door and determined her approach. “Ain’t that right, Firefighter Buckley?”
Buck gave a reassured smile to the sergeant and gripped the rod from the other side.
The two bashed the rod into the door as hard as they could. BANG! BANG! ( a/n : into the roooooom) BANG! BANG! BANG! This lasted for a few minutes, until the rod split in two.
The water was at their thighs. That was the heaviest thing in the room that they could use as a battering ram.
CLICK. “Firefighter Diaz to Officer Buckley. Switch to the second channel.”
Athena and Buck exchanged confused glances, wondering why Eddie didn’t just say it through the door, but Buck complied regardless. He grabbed his radio, switched the channel, then held down the button, “Go for Buck.”
“The hallway is almost gone, Buck."
