Chapter Text
Feeling like she wouldn't lower her head back down, Jin removed his hand from under Soojin's chin, using it to wipe some of the remaining moisture from her tears that her hands didn't pick up. Their eyes still locked on one another. Soojin impulsively came closer, catching Jin by surprise when their lips made contact. The next second, Soojin is puling back, her eyes wide.
"Oh my God, Seokjin, I'm so sorry!", Soojin covered her mouth with one hand. "I don't know why I did that! I'm not thinking, clearly , I-"
"Soojin, stop", Jin cut her off.
"I'm so sorry! Please, let's just forget it ever happened! I won't bring it up-", Soojin was about to burst into tears and ran out of the room. I ruined everything echoed in her brain.
"Will you just listen?!", Jin exclaimed. "How can I forget?", he wondered. "No, we can't pretend like it never happened, because it did ". Soojin couldn't look him in the eyes, planting her gaze to the floor. "Eyes up here"
"I can't", Soojin shook her head, her voice barely audible.
"Yes, you can", Jin rebutted. Soojin kept shaking her head, Jin getting his left hand under her chin and trying to get her to stop and look at him. He did manage to get her head up, but she avoided his gaze. it was her turn to get surprised when Jin leaned down, attaching his lips to hers.
"W-What are you doing?", Soojin stammered, gently trying to push him away when Jin pulled back.
"Managed to shut you up", Jin mumbled.
"Are you trying to get even?", Soojin asked.
"Get even ? ", Jin sounded appalled. "No! I know I like to joke around generally, but I wouldn't right now, or with something like this ". Soojin looked at him, confused. "I wasn't clear? Let me fix that", he said, his left hand cupping her right cheek as their lips connected. After a few seconds, Soojin's eyes closed and she kissed back, her left hand holding onto Jin's hospital gown while her right went to his nape.
"G-Guys?", Jin got startled when he came back to his room and saw the youngers there.
"Hyung, it's just us", Namjoon frowned.
"We didn't mean to scare you", Jimin piped in.
"You didn't scare me", Jin rushed to reassure. "I was just surprised because I told you to get some rest, and when I left the room there was no one else here"
"You roamed around enough", Soojin ushered him inside, exchanging bows with the boys.
"The bullet barely grazed my shoulder, not any of my legs", Jin grumbled.
"The bullet didn't barely graze your shoulder, it was lodged close to your collarbone", Soojin corrected. Jin sighed, climbing carefully into bed.
"Where did you go, hyung?", Taehyung asked.
"W-Why? Am I not allowed to move an inch on my own?", Jin asked.
"Hyung, why are you so uptight?", Hoseok wondered.
"Did something happen?", Yoongi was looking at Soojin.
"No", Soojin shook her head.
"Well, hyung did go through a lot today", Jungkook mumbled.
"Yeah, that's true", Taehyung nodded.
"Sorry for the way I reacted", Jin's eyes and tone were sincere. "I can see that I'm quite an ass right now"
"Hyung, no!", the youngers rushed.
"It's completely understandable", Jimin added. The other boys nodded in agreement.
"To answer your question, I needed to use the restroom", Jin said.
"Figured", Namjoon thought.
"Yeah... Why don't you go and reaaaaally rest now?", Jin looked at the younger boys.
"Don't you want someone of us to stay with you, hyung?", Yoongi asked.
"No!", Jin exclaimed. "Sorry, didn't mean to shout", he apologized immediately. "No, I don't need anyone to stay with me. I want you all to get some rest. I'm not a toddler, I'll be fine on my own. Besides, if I need anything I can ask a nurse", he gestured outside with the non-injured hand.
"You sure behave like a toddler", Soojin sassed. Jin looked the other way from where she was standing. The boys tried not to laugh as Jin kinda proved her point. "I'll babysit", she eyed the others. "You can rest assured. See you tomorrow", she smiled.
"Appreciate it, noona", Jungkook said, as the boys bowed. After exchanging 'goodnight's ', the boys left.
"Get it together", Soojin requested.
"How can you act like nothing happened between us?", Jin wondered. He panicked immediately, his eyes wide, trying to sit up.
"I have closed the door, don't worry", Soojin reassured. Jin relaxed. "I don't know, to be honest. Well, actually... With you losing it, someone has to step up and keep it together", she scrunched her nose while smirking.
"Smart ass", Jin murmured.
"Why are you blushing?", Soojin raised an eyebrow.
"I'm not", Jin rebutted. Soojin frowned, approaching. She used the back of her hand to feel Jin's forehead.
"You do feel a bit warm", Soojin mumbled, reaching for the thermometer. "37,2°C"
"That's slightly higher than the normal range", Jin observed.
"But it's too low to give you anything", Soojin sighed. "I'll just keep an eye on you. Hopefully, it will drop on its own soon. But, if it unfortunately rises..."
"Possible infection", Jin nodded. "Will deal with it then"
"Can I get you anything?", Soojin asked.
"I'm all set, thanks", Jin nodded to his bedside table. There was plenty of water, and his meal already had been delivered. "Is it just me, or can you sense it, too?"
"The awkwardness?", Soojin assumed. Jin nodded. "Yeah", she looked down for a bit. "We should probably talk about it"
"I agree", Jin nodded again.
"I've been meaning to ask", Soojin thought.
"That's rare ", Jin murmured. Soojin shot him a glare. "Usually, I come to you with questions and you give me answers". She smiled at that. "Nice change of pace"
"So...", Soojin sighed. "The kiss"
"Kisses , plural", Jin cut in.
"Who's the smart ass now?", Soojin scoffed.
"Sorry", Jin smiled apologetically.
"Right... It's a fact that friends don't kiss each other", Soojin eyed him. "So... What does that make us?"
"To be honest, I don't think it was a mistake, or it was a moment of weakness. We both wanted it", Jin said, looking at her to see if she was on board with his train of thought. "We have plenty of time to figure things out"
"Totally", Soojin smiled. "Okay, get some rest now. I'll be around to check on you". Jin smiled back before he closed his eyes. Soojin took notes of his vitals, before quietly exiting the room.
"Good morning", the two younger Kims met with Yoongi, Hoseok, Jimin and Jungkook at the hospital's parking lot.
"Good morning", the other four replied.
How are we feeling?", Hoseok asked.
"Good. Got some decent rest, compared to the rest nights of this week", Taehyung mumbled, the others nodding in agreement.
"Before we go inside, I have a quick question, which I didn't get to ask yesterday", Namjoon raised a finger. "It could be just me, though, so do tell me-"
"Namjoon, you're rambling", Yoongi interrupted.
"Just say it, hyung", Jungkook added.
"Right, sorry", Namjoon chuckled. "Did you sense something weird between hyung and noona yesterday?"
"Now that you mention it, hyung...", Jimin's voice trailed off.
"Hyung looked a bit flustered when he came back and found us in his room", Taehyung spoke.
"Granted, there was no one there when he left. But he was a bit awkward...", Hoseok thought.
"Noona was acting normal, though", Taehyung rebutted. "But she is usually well-composed"
"And they did insist they were friends, when we asked them a couple months ago", Jungkook recalled. "But, yesterday..."
"I think we're onto something here", Yoongi rubbed his chin while narrowing his eyes. Hoseok chuckled and lightly smacked him on the back. Yoongi immediately dropped his 'serious thinking' attitude and smiled. "Alright, let's go in"
"Good morning, hyun-", the boys began but froze. They had barely opened the door, noticing Jin was not alone. Soojin was there, too, but that wasn't what got them to pause mid-greeting. They couldn't see Soojin's face as her back was towards them. What they could see, though, was Jin's wide eyes and bright red face as he was craddling Soojin's nape, the two having got caught mid-kiss. Soojin pulled back, clearing her throat, before taking a few steps back from Jin's bed and turning to face the youngers.
"Guys, it's not what-", Jin began.
"It's not what we think?", Jimin cut in. "Is that what you were trying to say, hyung?". Jin was opening and closing his mouth but words weren't coming out.
"It's exactly what you think", Soojin replied. There was a rosey tint on her cheeks, probably slightly flustered after getting caught like this. "Might as well tell them the truth", she shrugged, looking at Jin.
"Right", Jin regained his linguistic abilities. He cleared his throat.
"And you said you were friends", Yoongi had a smug look on his face.
"We are!", Jin rushed. "We were ", he corrected himself. "Until yesterday apparently. We're trying to figure it out", Jin eyed Soojin, who nodded.
"Didn't mean to jump on you like that or make it seem like we were attacking you", Hoseok piped up.
"We're happy for you", Jungkook smiled, with the others agreeing.
"Thank you", Jin and Soojin said in unison.
"You're never gonna let that down, are you?", Jin sighed, noticing the evil smiles on their faces.
"Never", the youngers shook their heads.
