A Fantastical Fable

Chapter 5: Scratch That

Notes:

The end of the story! Sorry if it seems short.

As always constructive criticism is welcome, and I hope you enjoy!

Chapter Text

After the battle, no one wanted to talk about how they had just watched a little girl murder a woman. It wasn’t even the act itself that bothered them, but Logan’s reaction to it. Cold, detached, unbothered. To see that look in the eyes of a young child would spook anyone. Especially when Virgil was partially convinced that Logan wasn’t the only being with hands on the metaphorical dagger. Not that he would ever say it out loud.

Especially since Logan had been unofficially adopted by Patton.

After Virgil, Patton, Logan, and Roman had started off on their journey home, Remus pulled his fiancé to the side to speak with her.

“Are you alright?” he asked.

Janus grinned. “Never better. Looking forward to living your fairytale ending?”

“Eh, I never really cared for ‘happily ever afters’,” Remus said, a grin spreading across his face. “Want to go wreak havoc, mi astuta serpiente?”

Janus smirked. “Oh, absolutely.”

Fun Facts:

Amour Propre is a French term referring to self-esteem that you gain from others and was famously used by Jean-Jacques Rousseau. A philosopher that Janus compared Roman to in the five-year anniversary episode. I thought it seemed fitting.

De Trop is also a French term that refers to something that is unwelcome. For example, intrusive thoughts.
