Chapter 3: Chapter 2: John Torres: 2354

Chapter Text

A/N: I'm not American, so I won't use American terms referring to primary (elementary in America) schools. Also lets pretend they know about the Borg but have never come into contact with them in 2354, also a Hansen family reference thrown in (Seven of Nine's family).

----------------------------------------------------------------

John Torres, was married to Miral, she was Klingon but all the two seemed to do was fight all the time over what B'Elanna should learn about her family and what shoe should know about Honour.

So after speaking at length with Miral, they decided divorcement would be better, they couldn't agree on whether to co-parent or not, so they agreed that B'Elanna would spend 11 months of the year with her father and the last month of the year with her mother.

B'Elanna was also given the choice to learn Klingon in Brazil or with her mother, she opted for neither option, she wasn't that interested in learning Klingonese, she never was.

John after the divorce moved B'Elanna and himself to New Orleans on Earth while Miral returned to Qo'nos, it was at a conference between Starfleet Admirals, Captains and Ambassadors in Paris, France that he met T'Penna, a young Vulcan woman, the Vulcan-Federation Ambassador since Spock's death.

Eventually T'Penna and John became engaged and T'Penna was even pregnant with their first child together, so T'Penna suggested a move to San Francisco, not because she was pregnant but because it would make her and John's jobs easier to get to.

"I'll discuss it with B'Elanna, first. As it means leaving the primary schools she's attended since she was six years old and leaving her cousins." said John in response to T'Penna suggestion.

"Naturally." T'Penna replied dryly.

B'Elanna would be lying if she said she didn't like T'Penna, in fact she loved T'Penna but she was also wary about her temper around her stepmother, knowing she would reccomend Vulcan mediation techniques, another thing was that T'Penna was always going on about logical and illogic also how the purging of emotions is sufficient.

------------------------------------------------------------------------- -----------------------------------------------

[The Willow School, Primary school]

"Vulcan's would make good Borg, don't you think?" B'Elanna asked her cousin, Elizabeth.

"What are the Borg?" Elizabeth asked.

"You remember the Hansen's?" B'Elanna asked.

Elizabeth shook her head, B'Elanna sighed, they'd just learned about the Hassen family in history.

"Long story short, they were following the Borg, and their shuttle managed one last transmission to Starfleet before they and their six year old daughter Annika were assimilated." said B'Elanna.

"What does that have to do with Vulcan's?" Elizabeth asked.

B'Elanna took a bite of her sandwich before answering.

"Well, Vulcan's like order, so do the Borg and they're not good at emotions and they like logic." said B'Elanna shrugging.

Elizabeth had lost interest and was more focused on drawing in the dirt.

"You can join your friends you know?" B'Elanna offered.

"No, they don't like you." said Elizabeth.

"I know." said B'Elanna.

"Well doesn't it bother you?" Elizabeth asked.

"A little." said B'Elanna, she was lying, it made her extremely aware that she was half Klingon and B'Elanna didn't like the attention.

------------------------------------------------------------------------- -----------------------------------------------

B'Elanna was waiting for T'Penna to pick her up from school as usual, when her father showed up instead.

"Dad? What are you doing here?" B'Elanna asked.

For an eight year old, she had a good speech pattern. (Although that might be eight year olds in general, I don't know, I'm not actually around eight year olds.)

"To pick you." John replied.

B'Elanna tilted her head in confusion.

"But T'Penna always picks me up." B'Elanna said.

She liked it when T'Penna picked her up because, even though she was Vulcan she still knew how to have fun and so every Wednesday and Friday she and B'Elanna would go out for ice cream and still made it home before John, so they could clean themselves up.

"Well, today I'm picking you up. Besides there's something I need to talk to you about." John explained.

"What is it?" B'Elanna asked, as they stopped outside B'Elanna's favourite ice cream shop.

"We might have to move." said John.

"Why?" B'Elanna asked.

"For mine and T'Penna's job, but it means moving schools, to a school in Santa Cruz." said John.

"But that means leaving Elizabeth." said B'Elanna frowning.

B'Elanna did not like that idea, in fact it made her feel sick.

"I know, that's why I wanted to see what you thought." John said, he crouched down to his daughter's height, she was tall for an eight year old, that was because of her Klingon genes, she was still short as well.

"Well if it helps yours and T'Penna's jobs, then I guess I can live with it, when are we moving?" B'Elanna asked.

She didn't want to let on how sad she was, B'Elanna wasn't like that and probably never would be.

"Well T'Penna and I were going to meet in Santa Cruz, tomorrow, you can come if you want." John replied.

B'Elanna thought for a moment and shook her head.

"I need to tell Liz." she said.

"What? And miss a day off school? Are you feeling okay?" John asked.

"I feel fine." growled B'Elanna, she didn't like people asking if she felt okay, it wasn't any of their business.

"Duly warned." said John.

He knew better than to anger a Klingon, half or not.

"I will actually." said B'Elanna.

John frowned in confusion.

"Come with you and T'Penna." B'Elanna added.

"Ah, I'll let her know. Now B'Ella, shall we go home?" John asked.

"Yes." B'Elanna replied.

------------------------------------------------------------------------- -----------------------------------------------

[Torres' household]

B'Elanna walked through the door, just before her father and went to her room. Where she placed her bag down and then proceeded to walk to the kitchen.

"Afternoon T'Penna." B'Elanna said.

"B'Elanna." said T'Penna in response.

B'Elanna was sure she saw a mischievous twinkle in T'Penna's eye.

"What is it?" B'Elanna asked.

"Well, your father's got a meeting soon, so we can go out for our traditional ice cream outing." T'Penna replied.

If B'Elanna knew that she and T'Penna would go out for ice cream she'd jump up and down with excitement but she knew better.

------------------------------------------------------------------------- -----------------------------------------------

[Santa Cruz]

T'Penna, B'Elanna and John had transported to Santa Cruz, John fell in love with the first house he saw and went to explore.

Both B'Elanna and T'Penna shared looks, knowing it was going to be a long day, exploring house after house with a very indecisive John Torres with them.

"TOM LOOK OUT, YOU IDIOT!" a voice yelled out, it was a female voice, B'Elanna felt her arm get grabbed but before she could register what was happening she was moved aside, quicker than warp speed.

"Humans." sighed T'Penna letting go of B'Elanna's arm.

"Dad's human." B'Elanna points out.

"I mean, humans their age." said T'Penna gesturing to where a boy no older than eleven was getting chewed out by a woman no older than John who was about 34 maybe 36, B'Elanna couldn't really remember.

There was a girl with the two as well, she locked eyes with B'Elanna, words were obviously exchanged between the girl and her mother as the girl came over, the motorbikes the two children had been riding were dumped on the lawn near by to where the three people stood.

"Hi, I'm sorry about him, that's my younger brother, Tom, I'm Jessica, Jessica Paris." said the girl introducing herself.

"I'm B'Elanna, that's T'Penna and my father's inside." said B'Elanna.

B'Elanna liked Jessica Paris, she couldn't be more than twelve, maybe thirteen.

"So, is your brother going to apologise for nearly running my stepdaughter over?" T'Penna asked stiffly.

"Er, you pulled me out the way." B'Elanna said.

Jessica chuckled.

"Not likely, Mom's still chewing him out, for not watching where's he going." said Jessica.

If B'Elanna didn't know T'Penna she would her stepmother was frowning and that she was mad, but alas T'Penna was Vulcan.

"He'll apologise later, when Dad's talked some sense into Mom and stopped her from grounding Tom." Jessica adds, she obviously saw some sort of expression T'Penna's face.

"This house is the one." John's voice spoke, making both B'Elanna and Jessica jump in shock at the voice appearing out of nowhere.

"Excellent, shall we purchase it and move in tomorrow?" T'Penna asked, dryly.

She walked over to John.

"Uh, Dad I'm going to walk around." B'Elanna said.

"Of course." John said still not seeing Jessica was standing there.

"Come on, I'll show you around the neighbour hood. I've lived here all my life." said Jessica.

"How old are you?" B'Elanna asked curiously.

She knew it wasn't polite, but she couldn't help it.

"Sorry." B'Elanna said quickly.

"It's okay, I'm twelve, my brother's eleven, our sister Savanna is six and our other sister is one." said Jessica.

"Oh." said B'Elanna.

"What about you, do you have siblings?" Jessica asked.

"T'Penna's pregnant with my sister, Dad want's to name her Eliza but T'Penna wants T'Pera." said B'Elanna.

"What about your Mom?" Jessica asked.

"On Qo'nos, I think she's in a relationship, I don't actually know, I only see in the last month of the year, so December." said B'Elanna.

"Ah, right." said Jessica.

The two girls continued chatting. After a little while, B'Elanna had to go back to her father and T'Penna because they needed to return to New Orleans.

------------------------------------------------------------------------- -----------------------------------------------

[Torres' household]

"So who was that girl?" John asked at dinner.

"Jessica." said B'Elanna matter of factly.

"Her brother nearly ran B'Elanna over with his motorbike." T'Penna adds.

"He didn't, T'Penna pulled me out the way in time." B'Elanna huffed.

"It wouldn't be Jessica Paris, would it?" John asked.

"Er, yes, why?" B'Elanna asked.

"Her father and I work together." John said.

"That's nice." B'Elanna replied.

Silence, awkward silence.

"So are we moving there or not?" B'Elanna asked.

"Yes, tomorrow actually, so be up early." John replied.

"Dad, you know I'm not a morning person." whined B'Elanna.

"Well do you want to say good bye to Elizabeth or not?" T'Penna asked.

"Yes, yes I do." B'Elanna replied.

"Then I'll be up bright and early to come get you." John said.

B'Elanna smiled.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So there's going to be a lot of jumping around back and forth from year to year.

Yes, Tom nearly running B'Elanna over will be mentioned quite often, mostly as a running joke.

Also T'Penna is pure Vulcan, but I thought I might give her a side no one other than B'Elanna, Eliza and T'Pera (her other daughters see).

Jessica Paris aka Jessie is a character I was day dreaming about today at school, and how she'll fit into the story, also spoiler she does die, how? I don't know yet.

Also I took inspiration of 'Daddy's Little Girl' by Ruchira, so something's will be the same, I hope that they can get pointed out so that I can change them.

I'm sorry to Ruchira (although I don't know if they're going to read this) for sometimes writing the same thing's as you but your story is the whole reason I wrote this.
