Chapter Text
One advantage of living most of one's life in the shadows was that you noticed things mortals wouldn't pay much attention to—like the woman standing in the shadows, holding a small gun while crying. She couldn't be more than twenty years old, but her eyes told everyone who cared to look at her that she had lived a hard life and that there hadn't been much love in it.
Nicky noticed the woman again just as they were about to extract a serial killer from a building.
Nicky: "Andromache, she is back again."
Both Andy and Joe looked towards the shadows and saw the young woman.
Nicky: "We need to do something about her or else..."
Andy placed a hand on Nicky's shoulder and nodded. She knew exactly what he meant, and so did Joe.
Andy: "You two can easily deal with the creep inside. Do with him as you want, but bring him alive to Cairo. We only get paid full bounty if he is still breathing, and we need the money. See you in two weeks in Hamburg."
Joe: "Sure thing, Boss. We got this."
Andy nodded before she started walking towards the young woman.
Joe: "So, I can drop him down the stairs by accident?"
Nicky: "Sure, but don't overdo it like you did with the Nazi when you accidentally dropped him down a couple of floors. You heard Andy."
Joe: "That Nazi had it coming the moment he decided to kiss you. Why is it that some men just can't respect a no?"
Nicky: "When I find an answer to that, I'll let you know as the first one. So, any ideas on how we do this?"
Joe looked up at the building and then at Nicky, smiling, which told Nicky that Joe had gotten one of his brilliant ideas. Joe's brilliant ideas often only worked maybe one out of five times, but as usual, Nicky didn't say that but stayed supportive because he loved Joe. If Andy had still been there, she would have asked Joe to save his brilliant idea for another time.
Nicky: "Tell me your brilliant idea. You know I love them."
Joe: "Thanks, Babe. Here's my latest brilliant idea."
