Chapter Text
"Himiko."
"Ochako." Toga said with a smile.
"You know, I told some people about us."
"What we were? I'm sure they were pretty happy to hear that." Toga said.
"I love you Himiko, you know that."
"I love you too."
"Why couldn't we be a happy couple with a future ahead of them?" Ochako asked.
Toga shrugged, "Life, it really does suck. We probably wouldn't have to worry if we had a future together."
Ochako knew what Toga was implying, there is no future for them, they both knew they just delayed the inevitable.
"I'm sorry." Ochako finally said.
"Yeah me too, me too."
They went silent, silence has been happening a lot today.
"I'll always think of you Himiko, your voice, soft skin, pretty eyes. No matter who, I'll remember you." Ochako said.
"Ochako, you were the first I've felt like this for and probably the last. So I could only feel the same."
You can't always end up with 'the one' in life. Toga and Ochako proved that. They knew how much they cared and how much they could take care of each other but how their life had been set up. It wasn't possible.
"Watch Bullet train again for me."
"If you watch Texas Chainsaw." Toga said smiling.
They hugged each other, tightly, "Why couldn't this work?"
"Hero, villain. We don't make an amazing pair in society." Toga explained.
They parted from each other. Both smiling but not the usual smiles, this time they knew this was the end for them. The end of a relationship they thought could last.
"In another life, Himiko Toga." Ochako said in a soft, tired voice.
"Yeah, in another life." Toga said with a nod.
As they walked separate ways, just before they both fully left, Toga turned, "Can't wait to see you in battle!" Toga said with a light cheery voice.
Ochako didn't respond. She didn't know what to say. At peace, or at least trying to be, with the fact that it was over.
The drainage in class, but also the love that she so desperately wanted to work.
Toga tried her best to be somewhat better for Ochako, Ochako tried her best to understand Toga.
They were there for each other no matter what.
Now, now they separated this path they had been on together.
Life really is hard, love is something too complicated to understand sometimes, but you have to understand that no matter how much they are meant for you, time, place, and how you meet is always an important factor.
Toga and Ochako were perfect for each other but they met while being taken care of by each other's enemies.
Hero's and Villains. Only enemies, never lovers.
