Welp- here we are again
I deeply apologize for leaving this story without any updates, I personally am so sad when a story i enjoy is abandoned so kind of hypocrite of me doing the same, but life happens and a mix of burn out, exams, hospital trip (everyone jokes about it, buy it seems like the Ao3 curse is indeed real lol), and in general being self-deprecating towards my own writing, lead me to procrastinate endlessly.
BUT with the new season knocking at our doors, I kind of got once more a surge of inspiration which may or may not develop into the renewal of this beloved hyperfixation of my mine. Lucerys may be canonically dead (so sadly no more scenes with him), but the impact he left is endless and this story is just a way to bring him justice and let this family be an actual family. I LOVE the scenes we got of everyone in the first episode (maybe besides the Criston/Alicent, already knew they were such hypocrites but still, that felt bit too much for me), makes me grieve so much what could have been.
I will be honest, I do not remember exactly where I wanted to go with this story (as far as I am aware of, I was just writing off of vibes, not the best plan considering it isn’t even a plan, my past self should have at least left me some notes), I may have to watch the first season as soon as my exams finish to get a more concrete idea so we’ll see about that. The situation may seem a bit grim if you are reading this, but do not despair! I do wish to try and get back working on it, and if I am unable to finish this, at least give you a summary of what the idea was so you can all get some closure, you deserve it for putting up with me :3
ALSO- I had randomly appear in my mind ideas for other 2 stories (which are endlessly more complicated to write than this one-), which I would like to share with you to see if anyone may be interested in them.
1) Our blood runs thick: this would be settled a couple of years into the war! Which sadly means, lots of beloved character will be dead. Rather than purely a fight between dragons for inheritance, the whole conflict would have been plotted by several houses and the faith to put an end to the Targaryen dynasty. Queen Alicent begs/orders Aegon to take Sunfyre, fly towards the north to find Aemond and then the two of them should flea out of Westeros and hide in Essos, for she fears for their lives (and has good reasons to). Aegon obliges and barely makes it out of King’s Landing, but alas, he is too late, and Aemond has fallen (not that he thinks he would have accepted to flea anyway, especially if that meant leaving Alicent behind). Aegon, hopeless and resigned, now a fugitive both for being an usurper AND for having flead the capital does what he does best, he goes to some tavern to get drunk! There is where he would be found by none other than Jacaerys Targaryen, heir to the Iron throne, in this AU still alive and well (at least physically, emotionally the death of lowkey all his family weight heavily on him). Despite the lack of trust and resentment, they make a deal, being each other’s last resource. Aegon will strengthen Jacaerys claim and help him find his little brother Viserys, and in exchange, Jacaerys will let him leave, giving him the means to get to Essos and disappear forever. Needless to say, this tentative alliance ends up going much much further than what any could have predicted.
I am not the best at summaries but I swear this is very interesting plot snd I have in mind a lot of very heavy emotional scenes, would be a sort of slow burn, childhood friends to enemies/strangers to lovers kind of thing, lot of drama, lot of angst, some hurt/comfort in the middle. Main pairing would be Jace/Aegon, BUT there would also be side Lucemond I may or may not develop further
2) The pirate and the siren: this would be set in Old Valyria, or at least my personal (extremely vague and inaccurate) interpretation of it! And our main characters would be Lucerys, a non recognized Velaryon bastard who dreams to become King of the seas, lord of the Tides, and a young Valyrian orphan, Aemond, taken from the streets and trained to be an assassin (similar to faceless men), his only dream is to be respected after a life of being used and dismissed and even more than that, to be free to see the world outside. Water and fire do not mix, is simply unnatural, yet these two will end fighting all odds as they embark together in a long journey to find a precious gem, the heart of the seas, each of them for their personal reasons. This story would follow them across their long adventurous journey, thru unexplored waters and cities, each using their skills to survive and grow in a bond that is simply incomprehensible to anyone that surrounds them. This is also meant as a loose very distant prequel of the story “Our blood runs thick”, but saying how would lead to lots of spoilers sadly.
This story fascinates me but is also very hard to write, as it will require a lot of world building and me making up lowkey everything from scratch, each single adventure and so on and so forward. It would probably be easier if I had a rp partner to brainstorm ideas with, but sadly I do not, tho i am try and find someone to help me out with this. Maybe this would be better as series of short comics pages, but that would require too much money as i would need to find and pay someone to do it due my lack of artistic skills necessary for such project. But who knows!

Again, I apologize SO much for leaving you without updates for nearly an year! I will try write something as soon as possible and as my exams are finished! Hope you are all well and that you will be patient with me, sorry this isn’t a chapter, I will try remedy to that soon, I wish you enjoy the second season!
Also, I am thinking of changing the title of this story, but that is still under debate.
