Chapter Text
Vanta threw his head to the side, narrowly missing a brick straight to the head. The villain before him, in all her eight-armed glory, was proving to be quite the pain.
“How do we plan on apprehending Octagon when we can barely get within a yard of her!?” A blonde landed beside him, wiping sweat from his brow. “It's been twenty minutes..”
Vanta ran in for another attempt, punching each appendage that swung towards him, until one succeeded in slapping him in the face. “Damn it!” He grabbed the slimy green tentacle and flung the lady over his shoulder, utterly disgusted. A startled yelp escaped from his companion, and the blonde jumped onto him, clinging to his back.
“Watch it, Vanta!”
“Heh… Sorry, Wilson.” He glanced at the villain who was currently on the ground, writhing in pain. “Miss, I believe we've caught you at a disadvantage? Ready to head in with us?”
The woman began to cackle as eight more tentacles grew out of her back. Her stringy brown hair fell over her face as her entire body convulsed.
“Oh.” The pair said in unison. “Fuck.”
Wilson swung his sword desperately, slashing as much flesh as he could, while Vanta tried to tear off each tentacle that grabbed ahold of him.
“Where the hell is Zali!?” Wilson ducked a particularly quick swipe.
“Child duty!” Vanta reached out to balance him before he could topple over.
“ Whose ??”
“Oh yeah, long story, but Zali and I found a place to stay.” Vanta plucked Wilson right off the ground as he leaped to avoid a low attack.
“You.. moved in with a faaaaaa-!!” Vanta threw him towards the monster with all the strength he could manage.
“Yep! They're a little different, but it's a darn nice place! Nice people too.”
Wilson landed on what used to be a woman, now an oversized octopus. He reacted quickly, plunging his sword deep into wherever he could reach.
“I should ask if you can come over one of these days!” Vanta smiled bashfully. “The “mom” is a great cook.” Wilson grimaced at him as he slid off of the octopus, the creature reverting back into a lady.
“It's only been a couple of weeks, and you're already being unfaithful?” The blonde rolled his eyes and folded his arms as he turned away from Vanta.
“Wha- hey! Am not! I-I'm just saying!”
Two tentacles shot out to grab Vanta by the neck before Wilson could reply. In a moment, they were no more, and Wilson turned to look at the woman once more, his sword drawn. “Just how much energy does she have left!” He grit his teeth, feeling exhaustion creeping into his limbs. “Fuck..”
Vanta and Wilson posed to attack once more, but the villain slowly began to levitate.
“What the..”
To Vanta's genuine shock, a familiar face floated down daintily towards the pair.
Fluffy purple hair, fair skin. Beautiful in every sense of the word: Uki Violeta.
“Uh.” Uki evaluated the scene below him. “Hate to interrupt this, but you weren't answering your phone, so..”
“Oh! Yeah, I don't carry my phone while I'm working.” Vanta flashed a grin at Wilson. “What did you need?”
“Just wanted to know what you want for dinner. It's your turn for a suggestion.” Uki lifted the half-octopus a little higher before letting her crash to the ground. “If you're almost done here, I can take you back.”
Wilson and Vanta looked at the now completely unconscious octopus and then back up at the psychic.
“...Chinese sounds good!” He wrapped an arm around Wilson's shoulder. “Mind if I bring home a friend?”
