Chapter Text
Masha leaned forward, their head in their hands and their elbows on their knees. “What exactly happened with Grom?”
Masha was seated at the top of a ramp at the skatepark. Vee and Matt sat at the bottom. The sun glared in Matt’s eyes and made sweat drip down his back.
“Well, I asked him. I thought I asked him as a friend, but now that I think of it, I didn’t make that very clear.”
Vee laughed. She patted Matt’s shoulder. “You’re more clueless than Masha and I ever were. Pot calling the kettle black.” Vee glanced over to Masha. “Did I use that right?”
“You used it right,” Masha responded, nodding happily. They skated down the ramp, did a few turns, and ended up next to Vee and Matt. “He is, very much so, a pot calling the kettle black.”
“Alright, alright,” Matt conceded. “Maybe I was a little clueless. But I think I’ve got it figured out now.”
“So…” Vee said, “what about Grom?”
“Right.” Matt held a hand to the back of his neck. “Well, we got there. We took pictures at a photo booth. It got to be a lot for me, so I just kinda drifted away. He followed me. We sat together for a while, we talked. It was nice. And then…”
“And then?” Vee asked, impatient.
“And then I kissed him.”
Vee and Masha both gasped. Then, Masha frowned. “Vee, I owe you ten bucks. I thought Gus would kiss him first.”
Vee shushed her. “That doesn’t matter right now. Matt, what happened after? Wait, did he kiss you back?”
“Yeah, he kissed me back,” Matt said. Vee and Masha gasped again. After a gentle glare, he continued, “We just continued the night like normal after that. We danced a little. It was… It was fun. We haven’t talked about where we stand, but… I think it’ll be good. I really do.”
