My Lady, My Queen I shall serve until I die. That was a promise Albedo made to himself at a young age. After being put up for adoption, after his former mother was deemed unfit to care properly for a child, he was adopted by the former Queen Alice. With the promise of taking care of her young child Klee in exchange.
“Fate has brought us together now the world damns us with spite. Even through it all, I will guard you to limit the pain.” That was Albedo’s promise to Klee so long ago. Albedo followed through with any order Klee gave, to uphold his promise to her. With Alice leaving to explore Teyvat, Klee was left without any parental figures to guide her besides her older brother Albedo.
Albedo was adopted by the former queen after his mother left, to pursue her research, and felt a child would slow her down. Alice volunteered as the caretaker since she didn’t see herself going anywhere soon and by that time, Albedo was pretty much self-sufficient at the age of 8 and just needed to have the necessary things a human needs at his disposal. A few years later Alice had Klee. Bells chimed and people graced her birth as she was destined to be the next heir to the throne. She had the blood of the royal family and was given the role of successor. When Klee turned four, Albedo and Klee were separated. Given under different teachings, with Klee being taught the ways of royalty, and Albedo being given the teachings of being a servant. Remeeting each other when Klee was twelve, for Albedo to have the experience of serving the princess. Eventually, Alice left, as she felt the calling of the world, and left the throne and ruling to her daughter's capable hands, as she left to explore the world.
Even if the world would damn Klee, Albedo would stay by her side, as long as she kept smiling, to Albedo, that was his indicator that everything will be alright. No matter the cost, as long as she kept smiling, he would go through with it without question, after all, he’s been doing this since he was born.
One day, wandering the streets, a bachelor caught Albedo’s eye. In the country of Lyuie, a neighboring nation, he met Xiao, the prince, and next in line to the throne after his father, Morax. He could feel a beautiful friendship blooming from this. As they had similar mannerisms, and had similar beliefs. From their loyalty and small chats they found much in common. Although all that eventually would have to end.
Klee summoned Albedo to her office, one faithful day to deem that boy could exist for no longer. Although once friends, Albedo had to go through with the orders, as this is what he lives for. To make Klee happy, and if this is what will make her at peace so be it. He will follow through.
“I understand, don’t worry Albedo. I would have done the same if Morax told me to as well.” These were the words Xiao said before he died. Right, then tears of guilt start running down Albedo's face. This was a foreign concept to him, beforehand the only close connections he’s ever had were Klee, as her closest attendant and most loyal, and Kaeya, a prince from a foreign nation, who Klee was particularly fond of.
Soon the kingdom will be destroyed; strangled by the people who were crushed under its grip. Lead by Dehya and Cadence. Soon after learning what the kingdom did to the people and the prince of Lyuie, the people decided they couldn’t sit idly by. If the masses called this retribution for Klee’s sins, Albedo would not stand by and watch this unfold. He would challenge the masses and God would ask for his sibling.
“Come quickly change your clothes and go to my place, I will stay behind and wait as you make your escape, it will be ok, I was born to live this day. Kaeya will be waiting for you to assist you. No one will know that you got away.” Albedo whispered him to Klee in her chamber. She was petrified, and in tears, quickly understanding what Albedo was saying and telling her to do. Kaeya showed up right then, to assist the princess in escaping. Albedo had messaged him, to come to the place, and beforehand explaining the situation and his plan. Despite Kaeya’s original protest, he understood Albedo’s values and promised to keep the princess safe after everything transpired.
Albedo watched as they changed Klee, keeping her face hidden, and escaped with Kaeya. Both are suited to look more like servants fleeing the palace. No one realized that it was a prince and former queen escaping the palace.
Now Albedo is the queen, and Klee is on the run, safe in the hands of Kaeya. If they called Klee, the devil, a demon in the flesh, then to Albedo, he is a demon too as they grew up together and he carried out her orders without question and will bear the fate Klee left.
So long ago there was a grand kingdom. Lawless and despised by all those upon its land. Sitting and ruling over the kingdom, smiling with grace, was the sister that Albedo loved and now he takes her place.
Even if the world would send Klee their vice; if they damn Klee’s name as they gather and cry, Albedo would never stray, and stay by her side, so just smile somewhere in a better life.
As the blade comes down on Albedo’s head, he dreams of a world where they one day shall be reborn and they all could be happy. As the last things he utters are
“Oh my, it’s tea time”
