Chapter Text
The dark, black clouds greet Joohyun with a threatening shower as she waits for her girlfriend’s return outside the garden, whereas various beautiful flowers can be spotted. A transparent ominous moment of her life as she clutches an umbrella preparedly. Seungwan messaging her an hour ago or so about their shooting ending for this day.
A fog coming outside Joohyun’s mouth as she exhales with the chilling weather that’s been biting her the moment she goes out. She clutches her brown coat closely, body freezing from the coldness. Her gut feeling sensing the arrival of her girlfriend as she opens the gate. Seungwan’s black Ford mustang greeting Joohyun, her girlfriend’s beaming smile visible at her presence.
Seungwan parks her car to the garage, immediately hugging Joohyun tightly after coming out. “Ugh,”she shivers from the sudden burst of chilly breeze, “Let’s go inside, unnie.” She snakes her hands to Joohyun’s waistline, tugging her closer in her side. “You should’ve waited inside. It’s so cold here.”
Joohyun doesn’t like cold weather, preferring the summery scenery and blossoming flowers during spring. Yet, her lips tug to form a smile, as she nuzzles closer to Seungwan for more body warmth.
Maybe cold weathers aren’t that bad after all.
“I wanted to greet you first.”
“So cheesy.”
The younger woman chuckles at Joohyun’s reply, kissing the edge of her shiny black hair. “You’re always the first to greet me unnie,” she stops midway, “unless...” she takes a thrilling pause, drawling the word from her mouth.
“Unless?” Joohyun peeks at Seungwan’s face, eyebrows crossing at her girlfriend’s sudden pause.
Seungwan leans closer at Joohyun’s ears to whisper. “There’s a ghost,” she halts, eyes flicking between left and right, “...right beside you!” Seungwan points out, scaring Joohyun.
Joohyun flinches for a second, a shoulder smack following to land on Seungwan’s shoulder. “Yah! Son Seungwan!”
“I’m just kidding, unnie.” Seungwan wraps Joohyun’s shoulder, coaxing the older woman. She slides her hand up and down for friction, warming her up.
Getting both inside the warm inside of Seungwan’s house, they both tucked their shoes on the shoe cabinet, wearing a pair of slippers as they went inside.
“You wouldn’t believe how crazy today’s shooting was, unnie,” Seungwan states, removing her coat and promptly helping Joohyun afterwards.
“Must be quite crazy with your lips current state,” Joohyun replies, eyes transfixed at the new recognition of Seungwan’s busted lips. Her gaze flickering back to her girlfriend’s face, cupping her face and touching the poor lips with her thumb ever so softly as to hurt the younger one. “Is it the framing scene done by Mr. Oh?”
Seungwan nods, putting Joohyun’s brown coat on the hanger.
“I can’t believe Jennie hit you so hard for your lips to get a cut,” Joohyun hisses, her eyebrows crossing together.
Having had her share of binge-watching dramatic scenes during her childhood, Joohyun thought that most fighting scenes were acted badly by those older generation actors and actresses. And had wished that they’d poured all their hearts out to act out a real slap, rather than making it so fake by using obvious slapping noises.
But now that she’s seeing Seungwan’s busted lips because she poured all her heart into acting, Joohyun would’ve preferred using fake slapping noises than to look at her girlfriend’s poor state of lips.
Seungwan smiles with content at Joohyun. “I’m actually glad that she did, since the scene looks really believable.”
Of course. Seungwan would’ve preferred it that way. She’s always been passionate about her acting career, just like how Joohyun is passionate about being in a girl group, where she can pour her everything in dancing and singing.
Feeling the cheeks of Seungwan finally warming up, Joohyun clings her hand with her, walking their way to the bedroom.
“I already prepared a warm bath for you,” Joohyun says. “Now, go wash up.” She playfully shooed her away with both her hands pushing her to go to the bathroom.
“Do I really smell that bad?” Seungwan checks her scent, sniffing her armpits.
“You don’t smell bad, but your body is cold.” Joohyun pushes Seungwan’s back to the bathroom’s direction. “Everything is already prepared. So, warm up.”
Seungwan looks at her cheekily. “You’re not gonna come with me, unnie?” she coltishly says, sending flirty eyes at Joohyun.
Joohyun would’ve agreed in a heartbeat, only if she wasn’t busy on her own. She still hasn’t finish the drafting of output idea for their first reality show and still needs to write it down. Being the meticulous leader that she is, she wants everything to be perfectly done. Not wanting to dissatisfy and disappoint their fans. Or to not able to convey the whole structure of likings that her members have shared with her, in accordance to make each one’s idea to become a reality.
“Stop tempting me, Wan-ah.” Joohyun covers Seungwan’s face with her right hand, unable to look at her girlfriend, lest she dives into temptation. Wanting to keep in touch with Seungwan, she opts to make up her duties as a leader while spending quality time with her lovely girlfriend. “You know I’ve still got to make some things.”
Seungwan face lights up, a silly grin forming on her countenance. “You really won’t tell me about your plans?”
“No,” Joohyun deadpans.
“Even if I bribe you with a kiss?” Seungwan puckers her lips.
“Yes.”
Seungwan’s eyes glint with mischief by Joohyun’s answer. “Is that a yes I’m hearing?”
“Stop toying with me and go take your bath,” Joohyun says with finality. She pushes Seungwan inside the bathroom, locking the door. Her ears perk up at Seungwan’s melodic laughter.
Sitting down in their shared bed with a wooden mini table, Joohyun opens her laptop and starts doing what’s she’s supposed to do.
As the minutes tick by, Joohyun slumps her back on the soft mattress. Her mind flickering back to Seulgi’s suggestion. It wasn’t that bad per se, but she isn’t sure whether it’d be the right course to take. She can kill two birds with one stone at the notion though.
As Joohyun succumbs to her thoughts about the possible plans the Black Velvet members would have, Seungwan’s phone beeps with a new message. And beeps another two times more. Thinking that it might’ve been something important for it to be continuous, Joohyun grabs Seungwan’s phone in the bedside table.
Joohyun’s eyebrows met with an abrupt crash at the blasting name appearing of the sender. She isn’t surprised at the blaring fact that Jennie messages Seungwan, it is inevitable occurrence after all when they’re both working on the same project. The thing that itches Joohyun is the content of the messages.
Unnie, I’m so sorry again for slapping you so hard. Can I make it up to you with a cup of coffee?
10:25pm
Ah, only if you aren’t busy unnie.
10:25pm
I’d also really love to know more about you outside the show, Wendy unnie. So, let’s grab some coffee during your free time. My treat.
10:26pm
Why does she feel somewhat displeased at the thought of the younger actress messaging Seungwan? The girl could simply want an amiable relationship with the whole cast, even Joohyun knows how important it is to create good relations within the entertainment industry. There are too many mice everywhere, hiding secretively till they spot some dirt on anyone.
Joohyun has already gotten herself over about the insanely astronomical number of delusional fans that doesn’t only ship Seungwan’s character to Jennie, but them as an actress in real life. It’s such a preposterous thought that she’d even spent the whole night laughing at their ridiculous theories. Her mind and mouth both whacking with maniac laughter of how much of an imbecile she was for getting acquisitive over an act. The actual Wendy is not going to private meetings with Jennie, but with her alone. With Seungwan’s flesh and everything, that Joohyun’s got the privilege to relish with pure pleasure. Not Jennie. And never would be Jennie. Never. Not on Joohyun’s watchful eyes and mindful actions of keeping Seungwan’s needs to be met.
So, why would she worry about such nonsense? Jennie could be as straight as a metallic ruler at the end, and it’d be Joohyun’s lost for getting too many crazy ideas get into her head.
Not long after Joohyun read the messages, Seungwan’s phone rings with a call from Jennie.
Joohyun feels her blood rushing from the younger girl’s brash and rude attitude of having the audacity to call her girlfriend late at night. About to slide the red button to reject the call, the bathroom opens with a freshly bathed Seungwan. Scratch everything about what she thought mere moments ago.
Who in their right mind would call someone late at night?!
“Who’s calling me, unnie?” Seungwan asks, treading her way to their bed. Her slightly wet hair draping on her white shirt, water droplets dampening on it. A white towel hanging on her shoulder, looking so fresh and mouth-watering at Joohyun’s perfect view.
Without a warning, Joohyun tugs Seungwan to a passionate kiss. To Seungwan’s surprise, she’s able to reciprocate to the action after a second. Her hands cupping Joohyun’s face, as she leans closer. Forgetting about Seungwan’s busted lips, Joohyun bit her lower lip, earning a whimper from the younger. A taste of the metallic blood stops Joohyun from gobbling Seungwan’s lips.
Still panting from the abrupt kiss, Seungwan calms down her breathing. “And I thought you can’t be bribed with a kiss,” she jests, a lopsided grin showing up.
Joohyun rolls her eyes in a light-hearted manner at Seungwan’s silliness. “I can kiss you whenever I want to.”
Joohyun realizes that the ringing of the phone stops, eyeing the metallic device on the bed with a deadly stare.
“Sure, you can.” Seungwan pecks a quick kiss and drops to sit on the bed, checking out her phone. “Jennie just called me. I wonder what she wants...”
Joohyun crosses her arms. “Not only did she call you, but she’d also love to have a coffee date with you.”
“I guess she still feels bad about the slaps she’d given me,” Seungwan replies, typing something out from her phone.
Joohyun leans closer to Seungwan, dropping her chin to her shoulder. Her hands slithering its way to embrace the actress, while peeking through her reply to Jennie’s message.
Good evening, Jennie. Please don’t worry too much about what happened on the set. It’s all part in the script and you did well on your part.
10:32pm
Joohyun mentally applauds her girlfriend’s reply, not mentioning about the coffee is a flat-out rejection. A victorious thin smile appearing on her profile.
A quick response from the other actress comes in after Seungwan sent the message.
Joohyun tightens her wrapping hands around Seungwan, feeling another itch crawling on her insides.
Can I at least treat you to coffee, unnie? Please.
10:32pm
Seungwan tilts her head, taking a quick glance at Joohyun. Her eyes asked for a permission through telepathy. For a minute or two, only a deafening silence is the reply from Joohyun’s side.
“I’m sure she just wants to make up with slapping me plenty times today, unnie,” Seungwan mutters, still waiting for the reply of the older woman.
“Do whatever you want,” Joohyun mumbles, nuzzling on the crook of Seungwan’s neck. Going back to her previous position when she hears the tapping of the phone.
How about you just treat me to a coffee during our on-set breaks? We can also tackle more about our character portrayal and do some quick reading on parts that we’re having trouble.
10:34pm
Seungwan gives Joohyun a kiss on her cheek. “That should be fine, right? I’m pretty sure Jennie just wants us to be close because of our characters.”
Humming silently on Seungwan’s shoulder, Joohyun feels the dampness of her hair. Abruptly getting up to get the blower, returning at Seungwan’s back as she blows dry her hair. After carefully drying her hair, she brushes it carefully, smelling a waft of familiar scent. Intoxicating fresh roses made her unable to contain herself from indulging her lover’s scent as her hand hovers on her cheeks. Her hand about to land before Seungwan flinches at the faint brush on her offended cheek.
Staring at Seungwan’s unexpected reaction, Joohyun catches a clear sight of her reddened cheek. The poor cheek that she couldn’t detect with the power of makeup doing its job to hide what must’ve been painful for Seungwan. “Jennie better not only gives you a coffee,” she clicks her tongue, “she’d better give you a cake too.”
Seungwan chuckles, dropping her head on Joohyun’s shoulder. She regains her composure, staring amusedly at her. “I can’t believe you, unnie.” She shakes her head, biting her bottom lip, amusement still visible on her profile. “Minutes ago, you don’t even want me to have a cup of coffee with Jennie and now you want her to also treat me a cake.”
“Your face looks badly bruised, it’s no wonder Jennie felt so bad about what she did,” Joohyun remarks, hands hovering on Seungwan’s cheeks. Not capable of touching her lover lest she flinches again because of the pain. “How many times did she hit you to get this bad?”
Seungwan’s eyes moves on the upper right, trying to visually remember the times she’d gotten a slap for this day’s shooting. Her fingers unconsciously counting, before she turns back at Joohyun again. “I don’t know...” she drawls, mind back to think for another seconds, “...about eight or maybe eleven... I guess... but the other times doesn’t hurt that much since Jennie did them lightly. She only slapped me hard when director Kwon shouted with exasperation. We took a break afterwards and she got back her spirits in acting.”
Aghast, Joohyun’s jaw drops to the floor as her eyes shot toward the ceiling. “Son Seungwan, that needs to be treated!”
Abruptly standing up, Joohyun goes straight to the refrigerator for ice, grabbing an ice pack in the cabinet. She treads to Seungwan and puts it on her swollen cheek.
Seungwan hugs Joohyun with full affection. “Ahhh, I wouldn’t mind getting more slaps if you treat me this well, unnie.”
“Yah! The ice pack is slipping.” Joohyun’s hands pushes Seungwan a little, regaining back the cold pack’s position on Seungwan’s cheek. “And when did I ever treat you bad?” She quirks up her brows, which is met with an adoring smile from the actress.
“You never did and that’s why I love you.”
Seungwan leans in, the ice pack dropping on the soft mattress. Her hands snaking on Joohyun’s waist, she inches closer to her face. A soft whimper coming out from Joohyun’s mouth, making Seungwan giggle heartily.
“You’re so cute, unnie.” Seungwan pokes Joohyun’s nose. She leans in and gives Joohyun a quick kiss. “We have a busy schedule, am I right?” Her eyes glinting with cheekiness, her eyebrows playfully quirks upwards. She gently tugs Joohyun together with her, both faces in front of each other as they dropped in the soft mattress.
“Is this your revenge for last time?”
“Maybe?” Seungwan mutters, playfully tapping the idol’s waist as they’re facing each other and about to lay down.
Having been able to reach the cold packet before dipping into the bed, Joohyun slams the ice pack in her hand out into Seungwan’s cheek. “Then, goodnight! and enjoy your coffee date with Jennie tomorrow.” She catches an eek from Seungwan just as she turns her head away, facing the wall.
A slithery hand moves over to drape Joohyun’s abdomen. Seungwan nuzzling her face on the crook of Joohyun’s neck, the ice pack sending shivers to Joohyun. She turns her head immediately at the sensation, her nose bumping on Seungwan’s.
Lips planting on Joohyun’s own, as Seungwan throws the ice pack away. The kiss is gently and soft, with the actress’ hands planting on her cheek and waist.
Joohyun’s mind getting blurry, throwing away any sprouting jealousy from her actress’s newest ship. Her hands maneuvering down to squeeze Seungwan’s tight yet supple bottom. She kisses her languidly, not minding the clicking time of the clock.
Few minutes passing by, as the two woman decides to take a break. A glow on each face, just as Joohyun cracks a smile. Her hands were still holding her favorite spot. “We should really sleep right away.”
“Still can’t get bribed with a kiss?” Seungwan’s eyebrows shoots up, wiggling in the process.
“Only with yours.”
“But not today.”
On the next day, Joohyun plans to go straight to meet up with her members regarding their first reality show. The vastness of the sky greeting her with clear and great weather, Seungwan looking beautiful as ever with her fully covered body. She’s wearing a fluffy white coat, adorned with trinkets of black lace. Underneath her coat is a creamy cotton wool blouse, paired with simple blue jeans that hug her legs sublimely.
Seungwan angles her profile closer to kiss Joohyun goodbye. “Good luck on today’s meeting, unnie.”
Homuncular and soft hands hover on Seungwan’s cheek. “Does it not really hurt anymore?”
“Yup,” Seungwan replies with a cheery voice. She checks out her left hand, watching the time from her wristwatch. Dropping another kiss to Joohyun, she leans in with a smile forming on her lips. “I really must go now, unnie. I’ll drop a text later about how my coffee date with Jennie goes.” A playful glint sparking on her eyes, eyeing for Joohyun’s reaction.
Joohyun rolls her eyes in a light-hearted manner. “You better ask her for a cake too.”
No more wandering thoughts about such nonsensical things about her girlfriend’s co-star, Joohyun goes off with an ebullient vibe to their company. She meets up first with her members. Documents prepared as she heads of to their apartment.
“As per planned, this is the possible things that we might do,” Joohyun announces, dropping the other three copies for her members to see.
Scanning the writings on it, Rosie smiles widely. “I’m all good since we get to eat yummy foods!”
“But the thing is–” Jisoo looks up to both Joohyun and Seulgi– “are we really going to do the last one?”
Seulgi beams a smile, so bright that some people might go blind. “Why not? It should be fun.” She tilts her head to look at the leader. “Isn’t that right, unnie?”
Joohyun had thought about it. A lot. If she’s going to be honest about it. After ruminating a hefty amount of time on the last trip, she decided that it should be fine. Quite controversial and might end up exploding once seen on the television. But she wants it. She wants to explore more about the possibilities. About widening their fans’ mindset or maybe losing some of the unwanted ones who only wants their own version of what the Black Velvet members should be.
“The real question asked should be — will the President even approve of it?” Rosie speaks up, her glow from before replaced with tad of worry. “I mean... I’d love to visit the place too, but is it even possible?”
The leader gives the maknae a small smile, veiling a part of her that’s a bit worried of the possibility consequences. “Mr. Yang did say that we’re free to do whatever we want. So long as it’s interesting.” She intertwined her fingers together on the table. “And I’m sure nothing gets more interesting than where we are about to visit.”
Jisso leans back down on her chair. “Will they even air it though? Or even accept this idea?”
Before the leader can even answer the question, the sliding glass door opened with their expected meeting from the director and producers. “We’re about to find out.”
Three men goes inside with a formal attire, smiling politely at the girls as they sat down their respective chairs. Two of them are the ones they’ll have to work with, while the other one is their manager who sits beside the youngest member.
In front of the members, the two men introduced themselves as they start out the brief idea of the possible outcomes.
Joohyun being the leader, gives them the structured plan that they’ve planned out prior before this meeting. The prepared plan is rewarded with an amused smile by Director Choi.
“I guess I won’t have to do so much work this time, PD Lim.” He flips the papers with an amused smile on his lips.
PD Lim chuckles at his side, nothing degrading of sort, just purely entertained. “I did say that they’d get to pick wherever they want to go and whatever they want to do.”
As they read the documents, Joohyun’s palms started to get clammy. Her hands clamping underneath the veil of the table, she wipes them down on her pants. She flicks her vision swiftly, aware that they’re both taking their ideas seriously as they read it. The last page containing of her own plan made a halt of the two men who tentatively looked at each other.
The director’s lips twitch, immediately restoring back his posture. A single finger taps on the table by the producer, his tongue protrude on his cheek faintly. He peers down at the leader who gave them the papers.
“Did you all come up this?” He questions, looking at the members.
Each one takes a single nod; the leader affirms with a solid yes despite the beating of her heart. “Who came up with the last visit?”
“I did.” Irene meets the eyes of the producer.
“You are aware that this visit will be more than just friendly topic afterwards, are you not?”
“I am. Very much so.”
The director hovers his hand to his companion. “I think it’s a nice idea though. The viewers will eat this up.” He flicks his finger on the specific topic. “It’s the hottest these days.”
PD Lim looks back at the paper, a single scratch made from his hair. His free hand goes over his chin. “Well, you aren’t wrong about that. We’d have to check the dates though.” He looks at each member, before locking eyes with its leader. Then he meets with a nod from the director.
“We have a new reality show then,” PD Lim declares as he arranges the papers back on the table. His eyes meet with oldest and looks at every member. “Just make sure you won’t have regrets with your decision girls because we’ll be finalizing this.”
“You better be prepared for some challenges along the way,” the director says with a bellow laugh.
“We do get to enjoy good food along the way though, Director Choi?” Rosie squeaks out innocently, earning laughs from everyone.
