Chapter Text
me: ahaha hi
If there was anything Magnus was certain about himself, it is that he is bad at any kind of communication that is not face-to-face. Something about not being able to read a person's facial expression makes him uneasy. He thought maybe texting would have been easier, because you can simply lock your phone and call it day, but noooo!
Before he decided to send a text to Alex, he had already done his nightly routines and a bit of unpacking. He laid back on his bed, which calmed him down a bit since it was freshly put on. Who could resist freshly put-on covers specially after a good shower? And then, stared at his last message, and now wanting to slap himself because GOD! Magnus was pretty sure this whole texting thing was a big mistake, because why did he even think about entering something out of sheer infatuation? Alex was incredibly attractive, he had that noted, but was it really enough for him to ask for his number? He just moved here! And the first thing he did was embarrass himself? This is a total mistake-
Ting!
The message tone snapped him back to reality.
alex: hey
alex: took you long enough
Oh. Was he... waiting for Magnus' text? Somehow all of the doubts running up his throat fell back down again, and he kept staring until he received another message.
alex: so, did you get my number to apologize for the vandalism or are you taking me out?
Why did he have to be so bold? Magnus could feel like face heating up, not knowing how to respond properly to such forward flirting. Was Alex flirting?
me: ayo??
me: yea about the vandalism sdjkfskdf do i need to get a lawyer
alex: you are overreacting
alex: i'm pretty sure my boss will be fine with it
me: are you sure, dude?? 'cause like i don't wanna get banned
me: the kiwi cake was good
alex: pretty sure
alex: also one thing
alex: i'm genderfluid, i use she/her and he/him pronouns but on specific times, it depends
alex: and right now, i would really appreciate she/her pronouns and feminine honorifics if you don't mind
Magnus took his time to take that in. Which was approximately three seconds. In all honesty, Magnus had always known he was queer, he had only acknowledged it recently, not that it mattered since he was not actively looking for partners. He was living in a queer household, as Blitzen and Hearth was not really apologetic on their gayness. But the aspect of gender identity was not something he was as educated in, but if Alex preferred to be addressed with feminine pronouns and honorifics, who was he to not respect her choices? (He will be educating himself more in genderfluidity later, though.)
me: understood, ma'am!!
alex: cool
alex: youre new here, right?
me: yea, i just moved here with my dads
alex: that's kinda gay dude
me: i know right
me:
“Is it normal for him not to reply?”
“Child,” Blitzen took a look at the jumble of words he texted, then back to Magnus, “I would have blocked you.”
“You're not helping!” Magnus nearly jumped out of his seat as Blitzen passed the phone towards Hearth, whose facial expression was enough of a statement regarding the situation. They were having lunch near the new Blitzen's Best building. Apparently, the couple found a near restaurant that served falafel, so they decided to message Magnus to join them. Magnus, who was lying face-first onto his bed, awaiting a notification from a certain green-haired fella, had nearly fell off of his bed once he heard the familiar notification bell. To his dismay—then followed by guilt because why would he feel dismay upon hearing from Blitz?!—he had screamed into his pillow, knowing full-well how crazy he looks and sounds right now. Upon reading the text and gathering enough of his sanity to be coherent, he responded, then gathered a few more of that sanity to get ready. And here he is, sitting on the other side of the table parallel to his parents.
“Look, kid, it's only been a few hours. Maybe he's busy?” Blitz shrugged. Hearth followed, signing, “He was working, must be tired.” Magnus let out a sigh and took another bite of his pita bread.
“Should I message him again?” Blitz and Hearth took a glance at each other. The latter shaking his head as Blitz muttered a ”no!” Magnus let out a dying whale noise.
Upon a quick stroll in the neighborhood, which Magnus decided was the only sane thing he could possibly do at the moment, he found himself unable to stay still as he continued waiting on Alex's response. So he continued moving. He
